Bill Gates is right on.
He says that immigration laws “make attracting and retaining high-skilled immigrants exceptionally challenging for US firms.”
In one day last April, all the applicants of high-skilled immigrants were snapped up for the year. Others standing in line had to wait for another year.
US companies needing those skilled workers then were forced to outsource. US needs to up the quotas for visas for high-skilled immigrants to work in the US. For every one high-skilled employee hired, Microsoft chairman Gates says regarding his company, four others are hired as supportive roles.
The whole immigration situation needs healing. But one particular area is the high-skilled worker component, per Gates to the House of Representatives Science and Technology Committee.
Gates also said that if math and science scores, specifically high tech leaders, don’t go up regarding American students, we in the US just may not have home-grown qualified high-skilled workers.
