Specter takes hard line on illegal aliens who commit crimes

Carolyn Hileman | February 12, 2008

Senator Arlen Specter wants to take a hard line on illegal aliens who commit crimes. “They’re a threat. They ought to be deported,” Specter said Friday during a visit to the State Correctional Institute at Camp Hill. Specter spent about an hour meeting with state Corrections Secretary Jeffrey Beard and officials from Immigration and Customs Enforcement. “There are hundreds if not thousands of convicts in our state and county prisons who ought not to be here,” Specter said. “They ought to be back in their own countries.” Specter said he met with officials to discuss a way to deport illegal aliens who commit crimes.
