Snarlin’ Arlen Specter Has Too Much Free Time

If you want to know what happens when you let liberals get in charge of our government, I present to you the case of Senator Snarlin’ Arlen Specter who thinks that somewhere, somehow he and his fellows in Congress now have the authority to issue subpoenas and investigate what exactly happened with regards to the New England Patriots getting caught breaking NFL league rules earlier in the year.
To recap, the Patriots were caught recording the opponent’s defensive signals, which is a violation of LEAGUE rules. It is not “illegal” either locally, on the state level or even federally. But Arlen Specter still wants to call league officials up to Capitol Hill anyway and investigate.
Uh, someone want to point to where under Article I of the Constitution any member of Congress has this power? Anyone?
That’s ok however. Like a good little liberal, Senator Spector has his justification ready hoping you won’t actually read the Constitution and let him go on his little quest to abuse his power. “I don’t think you have to have a law broken to have a legitimate interest by the Congress on the integrity of the game.” – Senator Specter
What legitimate interest? I ask again! Legitimate interests of Congress are spelled out clearly in the Constitution! This is just gobbledygook spewed by a politician that is flush with power and wanting to use it.
He should be impeached for this if he pushes it because it violates congressional power. Of course this will just be the latest in the long line of abuses by Mr. Specter.
Here’s how I would handle this if I were the NFL.
First, ignore any subpoenas.
Secondly, hold a press conference at which I would announce that anyone issued a subpoena by Mr. Specter or another Congressman over this issue has been issued a full security detail with orders to use deadly force.
Thirdly, make it clear these security details will shoot on sight any federal agent or anyone operating on their behalf who attempts to arrest someone ignoring these subpoenas.
Period.
You are disgusting excuse for a United States Senator Mr. Specter. Deal with real issues that are within your power. Maybe read the Constitution some time too. That would probably help you figure out what those very limited powers actually are.
