Seniors Not At Fault For Voting Themselves Tax Dollars Says AARP

That’s the stance of the AARP apparently based on this report about how seniors are taking more and more money from government entitlement programs:

The cost of government benefits for seniors soared to a record $27,289 per senior in 2007, according to a USA TODAY analysis. That’s a 24% increase above the inflation rate since 2000. Medical costs are the biggest reason. Last year, for the first time, health care and nursing homes cost the government more than Social Security payments for seniors age 65 and older. The average Social Security benefit per senior in 2007 was $13,184.

“We have a health care crisis. We don’t have an entitlement crisis,” says David Certner, legislative policy director of the AARP, which represents seniors.

He says seniors shouldn’t be blamed for the growing cost of government retirement programs.

The federal government spent $952 billion in 2007 on elderly benefits, up from $601 billion in 2000. It’s the biggest function of the federal government. States chipped in $27 billion more in 2007, mostly for nursing homes.

This is sort of like saying bank robbers shouldn’t be blamed when a bank gets robbed considering that Social Security, Medicare and the like are essentially legalized theft. I know its an oxymoron but its still the best way to describe it.

There is still no one willing to put forth a serious argument that somewhere in the powers of Article I of our federal Constitution such programs are actually legal. I guess it is my continual citation of the founding fathers (like James Madison and Federalist 41) is what keeps you liberals from touching this issue with a 10 foot poll because you know that you will lose the argument huh?
Of course this position by the AARP is understandable. They and their constituents are one of the largest piglets suckling at the government teat. If they were to admit the truth then they would have to admit to their continual support for unconstitutional programs and by proxy their own lawbreaking. That would make them criminals. Well, they are criminals, but because they and many others will not admit it we keep stumbling along doing the same old, same old.

So it’s better to ignore the truth, in their eyes, and just keep demanding that their members be paid by productive, tax paying Americans like they had to pay when they were in the same boat.

Only question is how does it feel to be a slave? Because that is what you are if you are a taxpayer. You are working for those that are taking government money (unconstitutionally) and being forced to do so at gun point. And here you though we ended slavery – HA!

No one is ever at fault for what they do. The AARP is the biggest single purveyor of socialism in the country. They’ll justify it as compassion and say there is no entitlement crisis as long as they can. But when it requires the taxes of two workers to pay the benefits of one retiree and every paycheck we are seeing $500 flying out of our paycheck just for this, and the revolt starts we’ll see if they still think there isn’t a crisis.
