Lone Protester- To the Citizens of South Carolina

J.J. Jackson | February 24, 2008

Hello Everybody, William Gheen of ALIPAC encouraged me to start fighting for my state. Please forward this letter to everyone that you know in South Carolina. I want to send a message to our state politicians that the citizens of this great state are tired of not being listened to. We are sick and tired of our leaders bending over backwards to the special interests and not listening to us. That we are fed up with our laws not being enforced. That we are absolutely fed up with their refusal to enforce our immigration laws. I ask each and every one of them, what other laws do you refuse to enforce? And why?

So please help me here, if you live in South Carolina and know someone that does, make sure that they get this message because our state politicians are currently discussing immigration legislation and they will ignore the will of the people if everyone doesn’t step forward and make your voice heard. Please help me. Lone Protester

Lone Protester- To The Citizens of South Carolina 02/23/08

My name is Terry Funderburk and I live in Kershaw County and have a small construction business in the Columbia area. My business, like thousands of other small businesses is shot to hell because of the non-enforcement of our immigration laws. The construction industry is the engine that powers the American economy, and in my state, 75% of the work force is composed of illegal aliens. And the small businessmen like myself are getting pushed to the side of the road and are being replaced by a brand new work force. How, in the name of God, can we compete with criminal companies that employ illegal aliens in contravention of our laws? They can underbid us by more than half. My industry is changing and I do not like what I see. Every day, I watch people breaking our laws on almost every construction site I visit. And none of them are ever arrested and made to pay for their crimes like I was.

Our state legislators are currently involved in illegal immigration legislation. There was a series of meetings held around the state dealing with the subject the last few months. In the particular ones that I made, I listened to a bunch of South Carolinians voice their anger at our politicians because of their non-action in insuring that our laws, both state and federal, are enforced. Our politicians have failed us, the citizens of this great state, in this matter. Our state is over run with an unofficial estimate of 500,000 illegal aliens. And our leaders refuse to deal with the problem. Instead of listening to the citizens, our politicians listen to the business interests that are employing the illegal aliens and breaking our laws. Instead of listening to the citizens of South Carolina, our leaders are listening to the special interests. They are aiding and abetting law breaking on a massive scale. Their excuse is that they are not allowed to enforce federal immigration laws. Well, I ask them, what other federal laws do you refuse to enforce besides our immigration laws?

I go out to construction sites every day, I watch contractors, subcontractors and other businesses knowingly break our laws on a daily basis. They do it because they know nothing will happen to them. Last week I listened to our president say something about us being a nation of laws on the radio, at a job site. I had to laugh, because as he said it, I looked out the window of my truck and saw the lie in his words. I saw fifteen illegal aliens, and three American businessmen that employ them hard at work. And not one of them had any fear of being arrested and jailed for their crimes, like I was. A lot of my fellow small businessmen are gone , replaced by workers and companies that have no respect for our laws. They are gone and I wonder what are they doing now.

I wonder why did they not put up a fight? Why did they just go into bankruptcy and being run out of business by people that are breaking our laws. Why did they go quietly into the night without fighting? I know why. It is because they knew that trying to fight against a system that has already proven itself useless in the enforcement of our laws, was hopeless. Why fight if every cop ignores and refuses to enforce our immigration laws. Why fight when the people and companies that are breaking our laws have more rights than the citizens of this great state? Why fight when you might stand a chance of getting arrested because you are trying to bring attention to the problem? Why fight, when the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce has more influence with our legislators that the citizens do? Why fight when our senior senator, Lindsey Graham will call you a racist and a bigot if you say anything about it?

I will tell you why you must fight. It is because our Constitution starts out with, “We The People”. It does not say, “we the politicians” or “we the special interests” or “we the illegal aliens”. It starts out with “We The People”. That means that this country and state belongs to us and nobody else. Our system is supposed to be working for us. But it isn’t anymore. It is working for the other side. And it is time for every citizen of this state to come forward and make your voice heard. It is time to tell our leaders and politicians that we are tired of not seeing our laws enforced. That we are absolutely fed up with the way our leaders are so blatantly ignoring the will of the people. We are tired of the special interest that have more say with our leaders than the citizens do.

Please listen to me, please stay on our politicians behinds, call them, email them, fax them, do whatever you have to do, just make your voice heard to them in some way, somehow. Make then stand up for the people of this great state instead of standing up for criminals. Do it for my fellow workers, the ones that are forced to compete, every day with companies that break our laws. Do it for us, the citizens, because South Carolina belongs to us! I encourage you to make your voice heard, make our politicians do the right thing and represent those that this state belongs to. Lone Protester
