A federal immigration judge denied today a motion to stop the deportation of the so-called Danbury 11. Judge Michael Straus is ordering the defendants, now down to nine, to voluntarily leave the country within 60 days. However, Yale law students plan to appeal the federal judges decision, meaning the order to leave the country will not be enforced until the appeal is heard. Today’s hearing is still underway in federal immigration court in Hartford.
