Immigration Forum
Carolyn Hileman - The Voice* | February 28, 2008
Hi All,
I am writing a synopsis on an Immigration Forum I attended last week,
which I found on the GALEO site. I thought it was to be instruction on
how employers can skirt the law, so I registered under a business that
we own and carried a discrete tape recorder (which I hid in my tissue
box - great trick but unnecessary).
It was actually a legitimate instruction by ICE on how to register and
use E-Verify. The purpose of this email is really good news we can all
use, one they don’t speak much about. A representative from the
Department of Justice gave a presentation about discrimination AGAINST
citizens and fair employment law. Employers CAN NOT retailiate against
employees who speak out against illegal immigration. If you report
violations in hiring illegal workers at your place of employment, they
are not allowed to punish the whistleblower. Incidentally, if an
illegal reports an employer, he has no protection under the law because
it only applies to legal workers.
So, if there are illegal workers at your workplace, or if you know of
anyone who has illegal workers at their workplaces, tell them to call:
US Department of Justice
Office of Special Counsel for Immigration-Related Unfair Employment
Practices
Hotline: 1-800-255-8155
or write OSC:
US Dept of Justice
Civil Rights Division
950 Pennsylvania Ave NW
Washington, DC 20530

Lets all burn up these numbers and sites and illuminate all these
illegal employers.
There was no specific reference to those of you who are self-employed
and losing your work to illegals, but it will only take a phone call to
keep illegal employers on the radar for ICE. Ask others in your
business or profession to call as well until we stop the illegal practices.
E-verify, incidentally, only will apply to new employees, within 3 days
of their employment. In case the Open Border Lobby tries to say
otherwise, E Verify is very accurate and 92% of all employees checked
through them are verified. The employee has 8 Federal Government
workdays to contest a non-confirmation. If they do not contest it, or
do not follow through with going to the Social Security office to
present their documents, then the employer must fire them and they
cannot be held accountable for wrongful termination by that employee.
Please pass this on.
Thanks for helping preserve our country for my grandchildren’s futures,
Pat Henry
