Illegals found in DPS stop here on US 59

Thirteen illegal immigrants who were being transported as “live human cargo” in an 18-wheeler truck heading to Houston Saturday were intercepted by troopers of the Texas Department of Public Safety. Trooper Rick Magana, who specializes in commercial vehicle enforcement, was patrolling on U.S. 59 near FM 2218 in Rosenberg when he stopped the truck at around 3 a.m. for a routine inspection. Magana became suspicious when he noticed the seal number on the trailer did not match the number listed on the bill of lading, a DPS spokesman said. When the trooper opened the trailer it appeared to be loaded with wet-or-dry vacuums, but some of the boxes appeared to be “steps” leading up to the top of the load, he said.
