Hispanic leader says immigration bill is not racist

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A hispanic leader threw his support behind a bill passed by the state senate that would punish employers who hire illegal immigrants. Lieutenant Colonel Ray Mejia appeared with the author, Senator Mike Delph, to share his belief that the bill is not racist. Colonel Mejia is an american citizen who immigrated from Mexico. Representative Vern Tincher, the house sponsor of the immigration bill, plans to meet with House Speaker Pat Bauer Monday afternoon in an effort to win a hearing on the immigration bill in the Indiana house.
