GOP Failure Scolds Godfather of Conservative Movement?

Rush Limbaugh, often referred to as the Godfather of conservatism because of his prominent radio show, is getting some no doubt unwanted advice from GOP failure Bob Dole.
BOSTON (CNN) — Former Republican presidential nominee Bob Dole on Monday wrote conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh defending John McCain as a “mainstream conservative” who had supported the party on critical votes during Dole’s time as the Senate Republican leader. The letter, obtained by CNN from a Republican source close to Dole, includes a voting comparison that suggests McCain’s voting record compares favorably to that of the longtime conservative icon Sen. Jesse Helms of North Carolina.
…
“Whoever wins the Republican nomination will need your enthusiastic support,” Dole wrote in the letter. “Two terms for the Clintons are enough.”
Apparently the anti-McCain movement among the GOP and conservatives is getting too much for the party big wigs to handle. They are pulling out all the stops and trying to get as many faces to endorse John McCain as they can and are willing to say anything, anything at all, to convince conservatives that McCain has some sort of conservative bona fides.
They’re scared. That’s why they are making this public appeal to the most listened to conservative in America to try and sway his opinion of McCain. But if there is one thing Rush, and most true conservatives are, it is stubborn. The harder you push us, the harder we push back.
So push at your own risk.

As of last count McCain now has 613 delegates, almost half of what is required. There are a lot of conservatives who might be looking around this morning and saying “Dude, where’s my party?”
