Feds say the virtual border fence is not working

The government is delaying plans to expand the virtual fence on the U.S./Mexico border. It’s just the latest back and forth surrounding the controversial “Project 28.” The Boeing Corporation first began “Project 28″ in October 2006. Plans called for nine towers with sensors and cameras along 28 miles near Sasabe. The first tower went up in June 2007. But four months later, a computer glitch kept the system from going online. Then, earlier this month, Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff gave the fence a green light.
