Chavez Fights For State Control

Hugo Chavez is learning that being a communist isn’t easy when capitalists fight back.

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) - President Hugo Chavez on Sunday threatened to cut off oil sales to the United States in an “economic war” if Exxon Mobil Corp. wins court judgments to seize billions of dollars in Venezuelan assets.Exxon Mobil has gone after the assets of state oil company Petroleos de Venezuela SA in U.S., British and Dutch courts as it challenges the nationalization of a multibillion dollar oil project by Chavez’s government.

A British court has issued an injunction “freezing” as much as $12 billion in assets.

“If you end up freezing (Venezuelan assets) and it harms us, we’re going to harm you,” Chavez said during his weekly radio and television program, “Hello, President.” “Do you know how? We aren’t going to send oil to the United States. Take note, Mr. Bush, Mr. Danger.”

So let’s recap. Chavez ascends to power and seizes private property and land developed by others. Chavez then has those whose property he seized come after him to get their stuff back. Chavez blames the United States.

There seems to be a pattern here.

Hugo Chavez’s dog dies – President Bush is at fault.

Hugo Chavez is constipated and can’t poop – the United States is the culprit.

The sky is blue – President Bush is the devil.

Communism fails and his people are starting to revolt – damn those evil capitalists who are poisoning their minds.

Chavez is like the King Jong Il of South America. He’s got so many problems that he himself has caused but is too delusional to take responsibility.

Update: Chavez halts sale of Oil to Exxon-Mobil

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — Venezuela’s state oil company said Tuesday that it has stopped selling crude to Exxon Mobil Corp. in response to the U.S. oil company’s drive to use the courts to seize billions of dollars in Venezuelan assets.

Exxon Mobil is locked in a dispute over the nationalization of its oil ventures in Venezuela that has led President Hugo Chavez to threaten to cut off all Venezuelan oil supplies to the United States. Venezuela is the United States’ fourth largest oil supplier.

Now, let this be a lesson for all you liberal leftists out there who think government control of assets and property is actually a good thing. This is the same way Hillary, Obama, and a plethora of your fellow travelers think things should be run here in the United States. They think that they should be able to dictate how resources are used and who is allowed to use them.
