Border Patrol Agent Opens Fire on Smuggler

South Of Donna – Border Patrol agents are trying to determine if a suspected smuggler was wounded after one agent opened fire in self defense. The incident happened Monday afternoon, near Runn along the Rio Grande. A Customs and Border Protection spokesperson tells NEWSCHANNEL 5, agents spotted a smuggler loading several people inside a Chevrolet Suburban. When agents walked towards the vehicle, the suspected smuggler tried to run them over.
