RSSBerkley Marine Outrage Update: Cut And Run Possible?

Don’t count on it. Liberals have their ideology any they’ll follow those carrying it forward off the cliff if it means holding on to it. But this should be noted:
A week after blasting the Marines as “unwelcome intruders” in Berkeley, two City Council members want the city to back off the declaration that ignited the wrath of the nation’s right wing and inspired a Republican senator to try to sever Berkeley’s federal funding.Council members Betty Olds and Laurie Capitelli on Monday proposed that Berkeley rescind its letter to the U.S. Marine Corps that stated that the downtown Berkeley recruiting center “is not welcome in our city,” and publicly declare that Berkeley is against the war but supports the troops.
The City Council will vote on Olds’ and Capitelli’s two proposals at its meeting next Tuesday.
“I think we shouldn’t be seen across the country as hating the Marines,” said Olds, who voted against last week’s proposals. “If you make a mistake, like we did, you should admit it and correct it and move on.”
Too late Ms. Olds. Too late. But don’t worry lefties, you are still well represented on the council with the same old, tired and debunked rhetoric.
Councilwoman Dona Spring said the council should not be cowed by the volume of hate mail and threats.
“I still oppose the Marines recruiting in Berkeley because it’s one way of protesting this wasteful war,” she said. “Our military policy is a shambles. But we’re not in opposition to the Marines; we oppose the policy that directs the Marines.”
Yep, uh huh – we support the troops but not the job they are doing and volunteered for … so we really don’t support the troops even though we say we do. Isn’t this sort of like saying you support the auto unions while doing everything in your power to make businesses unable to compete through assinine laws and taxes and hence causing them to have to lay off the same workers you claim to support?
There is an old saying; actions speak louder than words Ms. Spring. And your actions are speaking volumes. But like a good little liberal you think you can simply overcome your opposition by continuing to yell, cry and shout louder.
Yeah, typical liberal tactics. They think that because they find one or two soldiers every now and again who disagree with the war while the vast majority agree with the mission and are continuing to enlist makes them somehow in the right to bash the troops and their mission.
If only you were so determined to fight against people that want to kill you as you are against those that are willing to defend you. Then you might actually be able to be considered an American.
