Undocumented alien charged with knife attack
BREWSTER — A 17-year-old Brewster teen, who was arrested on criminal mischief charges stemming from him breaking a front window of a Main Street, Brewster store in January, has been charged with a stabbing in Brewster in July 2007. Putnam County Sheriff Donald Smith said Marcos Antonio-Guerra, who is an undocumented alien from Mexico, is responsible for the stabbing and beating of a 53-year-old Brewster man on Marvin Avenue last summer. During the attack, the victim was stabbed in the neck with a sheetrock knife and violently kicked in the face sustained fractures to his nose, sinus and jaw. He was rushed to Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel and transferred to Westchester Medical Center, where he underwent surgery.
Report: Employee Lawsuit Alleges Company Used Waterboarding to Motivate Workers
A supervisor at a motivational coaching business in Utah allegedly used waterboarding on a member of his sales team to motivate staff, according to a lawsuit filed by an employee, the Salt Lake Tribune reports.
Chad Hudgens, a former salesman for Prosper, Inc., in Provo, Utah, alleges his manager, Joshua Christopherson, asked him to lie on a hill before he poured water from a gallon jug into Hudgens’ mouth and nostrils as other sales staff held him down, the paper reports.
“At the conclusion of his abusive demonstration, Christopherson told the team that he wanted them to work as hard on making sales as Chad had worked to breathe while he was being waterboarded,” the paper said the suit alleges. The lawsuit was filed in January.
Woman Accused in Deadly School Bus Crash Charged With Identity Theft
MINNEAPOLIS — Federal prosecutors filed identity theft charges on Friday against the woman accused in a school bus crash that killed four students.
Olga Marina Franco del Cid, 24, of Minneota, was already charged in state court with four counts of criminal vehicular homicide.
The new charges accuse her of giving authorities a false name and Social Security number after the crash Feb. 19, when four students were killed when a van she drove crashed into their school bus near Cottonwood in southwestern Minnesota. She was charged with two counts of aggravated identity theft and two counts of false representation of a Social Security number.
Prosecutors filed the same federal charges against her live-in boyfriend, Francisco Sangabriel-Mendoza, 29, also of Minneota, who prosecutors say was the registered owner of the van. A warrant was issued for his arrest, and authorities asked anyone who knows his whereabouts to call the Immigration and Customs Enforcement toll free hot line at 1-866-347-2423.
Franco’s attorney, Manuel Guerrero of St. Paul, declined comment on the new charges, saying he hadn’t seen them. Franco did not immediately return a message left at the Lyon County Jail in Marshall.
Both of Franco and Sangabriel-Mendoza face maximum potential penalties of five years in prison on each false representation count and two years on each identity theft count.
Right after the crash, Franco identified herself as Alianiss Nunez-Morales. But immigration investigators found the real Nunez-Morales in Connecticut. She told them her purse and identification documents were stolen more than six months ago when she was living in Puerto Rico, according to an ICE affidavit.
The affidavit alleges Franco used Nunez-Morales’ Social Security number to obtain a Minnesota identification card, an ID that is not a driver’s license. Franco allegedly was not licensed to drive in Minnesota. She also allegedly gave the Social Security number at two Minnesota companies where she worked.
When ICE agents searched her home in Minneota last Friday, they found a Guatemalan birth certificate, a certified Guatemalan ID card for Franco, correspondence to and from Guatemala in the name of her parents, and numerous receipts showing money transfers to her mother in Guatemala, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a news release.
Authorities earlier said Franco is in the United States illegally.
The complaint against Sangabriel-Mendoza alleges he used the Social Security number of a Puerto Rican man to get work at two Minnesota companies.
Vegas Puzzle: Deadly Toxin in Motel Room
By KEN RITTER,Associated Press

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Authorities on Friday confirmed that the deadly toxin ricin was found in a motel room most recently occupied by a man who has been in critical condition with breathing problems at a hospital for more than two weeks.
Las Vegas police said there was no apparent link to terrorist activity, and no indication of any spread of the deadly substance beyond the several vials of powder found in a plastic bag in the man’s room on Thursday. But what the ricin was doing there remained a mystery.
A pinprick of ricin is enough to kill.
“Six to eight hours, you’re going to start showing symptoms,” said Greg Evans, director of the Institute for Biosecurity at Saint Louis University in Missouri.
A friend or relative of the sick man found the vials after going to the Extended Stay America motel, several blocks west of the Las Vegas Strip, to retrieve his belongings, police Deputy Chief Kathy Suey said.
Tests by police homeland security officers, the Nevada National Guard and a laboratory in Las Vegas came back positive for ricin, she said. A cleanup of the motel has been completed, she added.
Seven people, including the man who found the ricin, the manager, two other motel employees and three police officers, were decontaminated at the scene and taken to hospitals for examination, but none have shown any signs of being affected by ricin, Suey said. All were released overnight.
“There is no information to lead us to believe that this is the result of any terrorist activity or related to any possible terrorist activity,” Suey said. “We don’t have any reason to believe any of it left the property.”
Police cordoned off the hotel and told residents to stay in their rooms. The cordon was lifted early Friday morning, and the motel has been open since then.
Suey said the manufacture of ricin is a crime, but it was not clear the substance found belonged to the man, who was hospitalized in critical condition Feb. 14 after summoning an ambulance to the motel and complaining of respiratory distress.
The man, believed to be in his 40s or 50s, was unconscious and unable to speak, Suey said, adding that he was not currently a suspect.
“We don’t know an awful lot about him,” Suey said. “We don’t even know that it was him that was in possession of the ricin.” She said she could not say how much ricin was in the vials.
BELIEVE ‘PEACE’ MUSLIMS? OR ARE THEY STOOGES?
J. Grant Swank, Jr.
If Muslims espouse getting along with non-Muslims instead of killing them, those Muslims are in danger. Extremist Muslims consider them traitors. Therefore, they must be eliminated.
Yet at the All India Anti-Terrorism Conference in Uttar Pradesh, some Muslims voiced peace toward all humankind.
They met at the Darul Uloom Deoband Islamic Seminary. They were regarded as “an influential group of Muslim theologians at a prominent Islamic seminary in northern India.”
Their purpose? Denounce terrorism of every stripe.
Are these theologians liars who are faking it in order to give Islam World Rule killers more time to set up the bloody traps for doing in free countries?
Or are these sincere Muslim theologians who want to counter Islamic terrorists? Time will tell.
Non-Muslims who research Islamics know that there are those who fake peace in order to bide time for Muslim slayers. These so-called Islamic peacemakers are in fact masking it. Their actual intent is to confuse non-Muslims. They are appearing as “moderate Muslims” so as to infiltrate and then permit the killers to slay infidels.
Per RNS: “Opening the conference, the seminary’s vice chancellor, Maulana Margoobur Rahman, called terrorism a thoughtless act that is ‘un-Islamic’ and prohibited by the Quran.”
A superficial reading of the Koran shows its bloody verses repeatedly. Allah calls on infidels to be slain, tortured, their eyes gouged out, their tongues cut out, their limbs sliced off. It’s not difficult to come upon verses advocating violence against especially Christians and Jews.
Read the Koran at http://www.ethicsdaily.com/article_detail.cfm?AID=10161
For these theologians to announce that the so-called holy writ prohibits terrorism is absolute nonsense. Any researcher of Islam knows that that is fantasy if not an outright lie. Any casual reader of the Koran reaches the same conclusion.
Therefore, what is the motive behind this conference? That’s the crucial question.
“’Islam preaches the tenets of peace, justice and brotherhood. There is no place for terror and violence in Islam,’ Rahamn said in his address, which was read by a deputy. ‘Allah will never have mercy on those elements who think they are serving the faith by perpetrating violence.’”
“’. . .peace, justice and brotherhood.’’”
“’. . .no place for terror and violence in Islam.’”
If ever there was a lie that is it. If ever there is the fostering of a “peace religion” which is in fact a killing cult that delivery from Rahamn is it.
Daily worldwide newsfeeds tell the truth. They show us Muslims beheading non-Muslims, threatening non-Muslim neighborhoods, and on and on. That does not square with Rahamn’s address. Could his address then be nothing other than propaganda? Maybe.
Further, it is imperative as well as acceptable in Islam to purposefully lie in order to see through Allah’s agenda for the planet. Lies are considered moral in Islamic faith. The Koran states that.
On the other hand, is what Rahamn states what is believed by those Muslims serving in Iraq’s parliament? Apparently, for they oppose the extremist Muslim inspired carnage in Iraq. They want to put down extremist Muslims. They work for a democracy. They cooperate with Western non-Muslims leaders. Consequently, we have on record the daily Muslim advocates for civility..
Confusing, isn’t it?
“Seminary officials, who have issued more than 700,000 fatwas (religious edicts) over the years, cautioned that the latest declaration was not a fatwa.
“The seminary, however, is recognized as a renowned religious and academic center with influence over the Islamic world, especially in South and Southeast Asia.
“The seminary’s general secretary, Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind, convened the conference and said top clerics arrived at a common definition of terrorism: ‘Any action that targets innocents, whether by an individual or by any government and its agencies, or by a private organization anywhere in the world, constitutes, according to Islam, an act of terrorism.’”
Let the conference public addresses be preached in every mosque throughout the planet. Let it be printed in every Muslim publication. Let is be abided by by every Muslim despot, all the way to every grassroots Muslim environs.

IRAQ: MUSLIMS KIDNAP ARCHBISHOP
J. Grant Swank, Jr.
US troops, many Christians, are attempting to establish liberties in Iraq.
Numerous US armed services personnel have seen through countless humanitarian efforts in Iraq, many of these persons being examples of the Christian faith.
At the same time, extremist Muslims slaughter Christians throughout Iraq, so much so that a major exodus of Christians has taken place. They have had to flee or be slaughtered according to the Koran’s Allah’s dictates to wipe out all infidels. Infidels are defined as non-Muslims.
Do Christians attack Muslims in Iraq? No.
Do Christians continue to live out their biblical love ethic in Iraq? Yes.
Jesus informed his disciples that because He was hated, they would be hated as well. When a person becomes committed to Jesus, he realizes that this is part of the package. Persecution is worldwide when it comes to Christians. Often media ignores these atrocities because of considering them “just another Christian story.” That is sad.
Now we have another horrific example of extremist Muslim hatred against Christians.
“Gunmen on Friday kidnapped Chaldean Catholic Archbishop Paulos Faraj Rahho in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, police and the church said.
“The gunmen also killed three people who were with Rahho, 65, at the time of the kidnapping, which occurred after he ended a Mass in a nearby church, said Iraqi Brig. Gen. Khalid Abdul-Sattar, a spokesman for the Ninevah province police” per AP.
The man completes conducting worship in a Christian sanctuary. Then he’s hauled off as cattle by extremist Muslims. What do they think they are going to accomplish?
They only increase their own hatred in their hearts. They divorce themselves most severely from the true God of the Bible. And they further Christian allegiance for believers don’t give up when faced with the enemy.
“An aide to Iraq’s Cardinal Emmanuel III Delly, leader of the church, said he did not know who was behind the kidnapping.
“’We pray for his release as soon as possible,’ said Archbishop Andreos Abouna.
“‘This act of abduction against a Christian clergy member will increase our fears and worries about the situation of Christians in Iraq.’”
The Iraqi Christian community has practically disappeared. That is a sorry state for in the past Christians were the positive influence in Iraq’s culture. Interestingly, via US troops, that Christian humanitarian influence is still felt in one neighborhood after another. Christians in uniform live out their love for Jesus by being kind and mannerly, gracious and constructive. In uniform, out of uniform, their convictions remain worked out toward others.
“Last year’s International Religious Freedom Report from the U.S. State Department noted that Chaldean Catholics comprise a tiny minority of the Iraqi population, but are the largest group among the less than 1 million Christians in Iraq.
“Since the U.S.-led invasion in 2003, Iraqi Christians have been targeted by Islamic extremists who label them ‘crusaders’ loyal to U.S. troops.
“Iraq’s Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki pledged last fall to protect and support the Christian minority.”

Immigration Matters: Mexican Strawberry Pickers Seek African American Help
Editor’s Note: Thirty men from Mexico who came to pick strawberries in Louisiana and found themselves in “slave-like” conditions ended up approaching some African-American activists for help. Gerald Lenoir is coordinator for Black Alliance for Just Immigration. Ted Quant is a labor activist and teacher in New Orleans. Damien Ramos is an organizer in the homeless community of New Orleans. Immigration Matters regularly features the views of the nation’s leading immigrant rights advocates.
AMITE, La. — Thirty men came from the indigenous community of San Luis Potosin, in Mexico, last winter to work for Bimbo’s Best Produce, Inc. in Amite, La. U.S. trade agreements have destroyed their economy and forced these men to become cheap, exploitable workers. Recruiters in Mexico promised them the American dream, with one catch: they’d have to pay almost $1,000 in recruitment fees. They paid, and were brought to Amite, La. on H2-A visas on a bus that dropped them off at a Wal-Mart in the middle of the night. Then they found out that all of the promises recruiters had made them were false: steady jobs, decent wages, good conditions – none of it was true. They realized they had been trafficked to the fields of Amite.
The workers said their boss, Charles “Bimbo” Relan, confiscated their passports to hold them in his fields. They said he forced them to work for sometimes as little as $2 an hour. Picking strawberries is back-breaking work – the men were bent down over bushes for hours. When they stopped to stretch, they said, Relan yelled that he would deport them back to Mexico. They claim that they weren’t given water, or allowed to use the bathroom.
School Room Fascists
Fascism is defined as “a tendency toward or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control” or, in a nutshell, arbitrary and capricious governance over people. So let’s talk about the story of a young boy suspended from school because a school administrator didn’t like his hair cut:
PARMA, Ohio - A kindergarten student with a freshly spiked Mohawk has been suspended from school.Michelle Barile, the mother of 6-year-old Bryan Ruda, said nothing in the Parma Community School handbook prohibits the haircut, characterized by closely shaved sides with a strip of prominent hair on top. The school said the hair was a distraction for other students.
“I understand they have a dress code. I understand he has a uniform. But this is total discrimination,” she said. “They can’t tell me how I can cut his hair.”
An administrator at the suburban Cleveland charter school first warned Barile last fall that the haircut wasn’t acceptable. The school later sent another warning to her reiterating the ban.
Of course when you have open-ended rules that allow you to claim the mohawk violated rules against being properly groomed (the school’s defense) you are going to have little fascists doing whatever they want.
It doesn’t matter if what he did wasn’t actually against the rules. What matters is that they have the power to arbitrarily determine what does and does not constitute being properly groomed. And you will always have people that crave power drawn into positions where they can inflict their will on others.
Hopefully he and his mother will learn from this experience and work against having people in such positions of power in the future. Now, thanks to this administrator, the school will have to define exactly what sorts of haircuts are acceptable. But just remember, “Vee hav vays ov making you conform!”
Past on-the-road incidents surround van driver
By Rae Kruger
MARSHALL — The woman charged with four counts of criminal vehicular homicide in the Feb. 19 Lakeview School bus crash was apparently involved in a driving-without-a-license incident in which a man was cited in Kandiyohi County in January, the West Central Tribune reported Wednesday.
The Kandiyohi County incident would be at least the second driving- without-a-license incident connected to the woman since 2006.
In January, the woman, now identified by federal immigration authorities as Olga Marina Franco, was a passenger in a 1998 van, when the driver, Samuel Melendez, 28, was stopped by a Kandiyohi County Deputy, the Tribune said. The van is believed to be the same one she was driving in the Feb. 19 school bus crash near the intersection of Lyon County Road 24 and Minnesota Highway 23 near Cottonwood.
In January, Melendez was cited for driving without a license, and the passenger, who identified herself as Alianiss N. Morales, said she also did not have a license, the Tribune said. Morales is the alias Franco gave to authorities after the Lakeview crash.
The pair said they were returning to work from Cottonwood and they lived in Willmar, the Tribune said.
Melendez paid a $187 fine for driving without a license in Kandiyohi County Court on Feb. 1, the Tribune said.
The complaint filed in Lyon County District Court lists a Samuel Rivera Melendez as Franco’s boyfriend.
The Lyon County Court complaint said a Minnesota State Trooper used an identification card photograph to positively identify Franco as the Alianiss Nunez Morales, 23, of Montevideo, who was cited for driving without a license in Montevideo on May 25, 2006. Morales paid a fine on the charge, court records said.
