WHITTIER - A convicted felon who killed his girlfriend Monday and then turned the gun on himself had been deported to Mexico three times since 2004. Gustavo Fausto Tellez Jr., whose record includes felony assault and spousal abuse, appealed his first deportation order in 2001. He lost the appeal and was deported to Mexico in 2004, Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman Virginia Kice said Tuesday. In February 2005, ICE agents found Tellez in the Ventura County jail serving time for drug possession and resisting arrest, according to officials and court records. He was deported, for the second time, from Los Angeles County Jail. Days after deportation, Tellez was caught trying to cross back into the United States at San Ysidro, south of San Diego, Kice said.
