Illegal Immigrant found guilty of sexual assault

BRIDGETON — Raul Chasares, one of five men charged in connection with the 2006 sexual assault of a 13-year-old Millville girl, may be on his way back to Mexico soon. The 24-year-old illegal immigrant was sentenced in Superior Court to 18 months in state prison on Friday. Because he receives credit for time that he’s spent in Cumberland County Jail since his arrest, the sentence is considered complete. However, it was reported in court that Chasares has an immigration detainer placed on him due to his immigration status and will soon face deportation hearings.
