If Economy Sucks How Does This Happen?

Serious question. If the economy is so horrible, how do companies like SHARP continue to make bigger and more expensive televisions for consumers?
LAS VEGAS (Reuters) - Japanese electronics maker Sharp Corp will begin selling a 108-inch LCD television later this year, executives told the Consumer Electronics Show on Sunday.
Just asking. Next time you think the economy is tanking ask yourself who is buying those flat screen televisions lining the walls at Circuit City and Best Buy.
Yeah, yeah … we know … it’s all for the EVIL rich who are the only people that could afford it right?

Coming from a fellow conservative op-ed writer, that’s sort of a shallow article. The economy does suck. Whether or not expensive merchandise exists, which generally will always be available to the buyer with the money, it doesn’t mean that the economy isn’t in dire economic straits. Ask yourself what’s the purpose of writing this article?
Talk about “shallow”, your response doesn’t even come close to being substantive. You claim the “economy does suck” yet provide no real evidence. There really isn’t any besides half-assed anecdotally evidence anyway. But Jeff provides actual evidence such as the fact that companies are continuing to make bigger and better products. This doesn’t happen in a sucky economy because in a sucky economy companies pull back on R&D.
The purpose of writing this article is apparently to see how many people will respond with nothing of substance.
