DETROIT (AP) - Federal prosecutors say a Philippines-born woman committed immigration fraud in 1996-97 when she claimed to be law-abiding, even though she was involved in a medical fraud scheme. Detroit U.S. Attorney Stephen Murphy says 56-year-old Elena Szilvagyi lied while seeking U.S citizenship, which she got in 1997. She’s serving a federal prison sentence for health care and mail fraud. Prosecutors say she and husband David Szilvagyi defrauded Medicare and Blue Cross Blue Shield of $865,000 in 1994-98.
