Charles Schumer Shows His Authoritarian Stripes

OMG! Unemployment rose to 5%! Did you hear! It’s a RECESSION! Run for the hills!
Ok, now that we’ve got that panic out of the way let’s look at this report:
WASHINGTON — It’s back to the future for President Bush, who in his last year in office is facing the same challenge he did in his first — the possibility of a recession and how to avert it.
Bush couldn’t stave off a recession in 2001, but his tax cuts helped to cushion the blow. This time around, a tax cut is under consideration again, the White House said after the release of an especially gloomy employment report Friday.
Wary employers clamped down on hiring and pushed the unemployment rate to a two-year high of 5 percent in December, an ominous sign that the economy may slide into recession.
Ok, first off for Ms. Aversa, let’s get history right. It’s hard to “avoid” a recession when it is already upon you as it was when President Bush first took office. And you’re a “economics writer” for the AP? Seems to me they need to get a new “economics writer”. Perhaps one that knows a little about “economics”.
So what did Charles Schumer have to say about this? Just his typical left wing claptrap:
‘‘If there were ever a shot across the bow to this administration to get off its laissez-faire boat and start helping the economy, this is it.”
Listen, Chucky, I know that it would be too much to ask of you to actually read the Constitution so I’ll do it for you. What exactly would you like President Bush to do exactly? You know, since Article II where his powers as President are defined only include limited things like:
- being Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States
- the Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States
- require the Opinion, in writing, of the principal Officer in each of the executive Departments
- have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur
- nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by Law: but the Congress may by Law vest the Appointment of such inferior Officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the Courts of Law, or in the Heads of Departments.
Well Chucky? What do you want Bush to do? Establish an fascist, authoritarian government where he controls the economy too? I thought you liberals hated that? At least you’ve been running around decrying Bush as doing just that since 9/11!
Just so everyone is clear:
Authoritarian: of, relating to, or favoring a concentration of power in a leader or an elite not constitutionally responsible to the people
Fascist: a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition
So Chuck Schumer shows his true stripes eh? By his own words he admits that he wants the President to be a “leader” that is “not constitutionally responsible to the people” and acts beyond his/her powers? Nice to know that he’s not hiding his true feelings about where America should be headed and what he will demand of perhaps one of his fellow Democrats should we be unfortunate enough to have one as President.
Do you really want to live in an authoritarian fascist state where the decree of a leader is law? Schumer should be impeached for gross negligence and failure to uphold the Constitution. But will Americans have the guts to actually hold their leaders accountable? I doubt it! As long as Mr. Schumer is funneling the entitlements their way most will probably happily look the other way.

Schumer is an idiot but indicative of your typical liberal socialist Democrat. Too many socialists in America these days voting for people like him with no concept of limited government and our Constitution.
