Romney Gives Stirring Speech; Mentions the “G” Word

Liberals and other assorted bigots like to pick on Mitt Romney for being a Mormon. Personally I don’t care much about Romney’s faith as much as I do his tendency for liberalism at times.

So he went out and gave a speech where he made liberal heads pop by talking about God:

I believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God and the savior of mankind,” he said. While conceding Mormons have different beliefs about the earthly presence of Jesus Christ, “each religion has its own unique doctrines and history. … Religious tolerance would be a shallow principle indeed if it were reserved only for faiths with which we agree.”

If your biggest gripe against Romney is that he is a Mormon you need to rethink your plan of attack. Do I think the Mormon religion is a little wacky? Sure I do. Which is why I am not a Mormon!

But I’m not Catholic either and I don’t go into the voting booth saying that I won’t vote for someone because they are.
Debate over Romney’s fitness for President should be confined to his policies and proposals that would fall under his purview as President. If you don’t know what these are, take some time to read Article II of the Constitution tonight.

As you can see from this poll:

By the end of Obama's first term in office the top marginal tax rate will be:

70% of visitors to this site say that Romney’s religion is either not an issue or not that big of an issue. Then of course you have the 30% who are troubled by it, probably because they are not up to speed enough on what the issues are that face America and where Romney stands on them.

And please remember, this is not an endorsement of Mitt Romney. I am not endorsing a candidate for President in the primaries. All I am asking is that your reasons for or against a candidate be based on some sort of reason and not bigotry.

Good job, Im a liberal, agnostic and Im commenting on this after the republican nominations, but it makes no sense to vote for someone based on whether he is a mormon or catholic or another religion. Do you really think that when he is in office, he will be making his decisions based off of whether he believes Jesus Christ is the savior of this world? Do you really think Romney is going to think, “Oh, I know, im going to vote for the school budget cuts cause i am a Mormon! Yeah!” No, he’s not going to do that, so why does anyone care?

Considering that our entire nation is founded on Judeo-Christian belief it might not be a bad thing to expect such. Especially since our Constitution proudly states that it was signed in the “Year of Our Lord”.

The reason he won’t vote for school budget cuts is because he is a liberal/socialist who actually thinks somewhere in the Constitution the federal government has the authority to spend tax dollars as such. It has nothing to do with his religion.
