In a campaign that has spread like wildfire across the Internet, a group of Israeli environmentalists is encouraging Jews around the world to light at least one less candle this Hanukka to help the environment.
The founders of the Green Hanukkia campaign found that every candle that burns completely produces 15 grams of carbon dioxide. If an estimated one million Israeli households light for eight days, they said, it would do significant damage to the atmosphere.
“The campaign calls for Jews around the world to save the last candle and save the planet, so we won’t need another miracle,” said Liad Ortar, the campaign’s cofounder, who runs the Arkada environmental consulting firm and the Ynet Web site’s environmental forum. “Global warming is a milestone in human evolution that requires us to rethink how we live our lives, and one of the main paradigms of that is religion and how it fits into the current situation.”
Yep. Don’t practice your outdated, robotic rituals and recognize God and his glory. Instead embrace our religion which follows the word of our High Priest, Al Gore. Join the collective … resistance is futile … you will be assimilated.

On topic and intelligent comments are always welcome as are humorous observations. But liberal talking points with no basis in reality, off topic comments, spam and advertisements are not. Even though you may think you are an intelligent liberal, you probably are not. Keep this in mind as trolling is prohibited and will result in your comments not being approved and comments informing us how much we are a bunch of idiots because you say we are or espousing hate towards the truth are often moved directly to the official “I Hate You/You’re An Idiot” thread. Save us all the time and post there directly if you have a comment that would meet those criteria. Commenters reserve the right to mock claims about how liberal ideas, such as higher taxes, actually work and how conservative and right wingers, are NAZIs, racists, sexists, etc. and will do so with great regularity. Ignorance is more than bliss, it’s dangerous. This incestuous love affair with Al Gore still amazes me. If people want to not light a candle, use a single sheet to wipe their ass, bathe once a week to conserve water, ride a bike to work, or live in a hut I could care less. That is their right but, as of right now, I still have a choice.
The environmental movement has become extreme in their views. I won’t give up my choice to bathe daily or drive the car of my choice. I don’t believe in waste or intentionally causing harm to the environment but there must be a balance that is tempered with common sense and facts rather than politically and emotionally driven junk science and hysteria.
