Bush Still Part of the Problem: Signs Bad Budget
J.J. Jackson* | December 28, 2007
Talk is cheap. And President Bush has a lot of it apparently.
CRAWFORD, TEXAS — President Bush signed a $555-billion spending bill Wednesday that will pay for a large share of government operations in 2008, but he complained that Congress did not do enough to restrict pork-barrel expenditures and was not providing enough money for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.Bush said in a statement: “I am disappointed in the way the Congress compiled this legislation. . . . Congress dropped into the bill nearly 9,800 earmarks that total more than $10 billion. These projects are not funded through a merit-based process and provide a vehicle for wasteful government spending.”
Bush said he hoped Congress would help “rein in government spending” when he submitted his 2009 budget proposal in February.
This is what happens when you elect RINOs to office. All you get is a lot of lip service about “reining in spending” but in the end they always seem to cave and let the liberals have their unconstitutional, wasteful government.
When President Bush says he hopes that Congress will cut the crap out, don’t believe him. He hasn’t proven that he means it.
The correct answer to this bill was a veto. Send it back to Congress and let them know that you will make them responsible for every dime above and beyond what the Constitution authorizes and that you will have no part in it. Then watch them fight as they still can’t must enough votes to pass it.
