The Boy Who Would Be Senator (Bobby Casey) Responds!

Well, it appears that the Junior (and I do mean VERY junior) Senator from my home State of Pennsylvania is not willing to let go of the Rush Limbaugh called our troops who disagree with the war “phony soldiers” lie just yet.  His response to my initial letter to him (found here) is as follows:

Dear Mr. Jackson:Thank you for taking the time to contact me regarding talk radio host Rush Limbaugh’s recent comments. I appreciate hearing from all Pennsylvanians about this important issue.

Mr. Limbaugh referred to veterans who have spoken out against the war in Iraq as “phony soldiers” in the wake of bipartisan amendments recently passed by the Senate and the House that strongly condemned any effort to attack the honor and integrity of members of the United States Armed Forces. He essentially condemned these soldiers for disagreeing with him and President Bush about the war, and for exercising their right to free speech.

While Mr. Limbaugh claims that his comments were taken out of context, he is incorrect and his argument lacks credibility. To support his claim, he purported to air the segment in question, but in fact edited the clip, omitting most of the discussion that occurred regarding his “phony soldiers” comment.

I signed a letter to Mark Mays, the CEO of Clear Channel Communications, Inc. calling on him to publicly repudiate Mr. Limbaugh’s comments about veterans. I believe that we must consistently condemn any slander against our veterans, from individuals and groups at either end of the political spectrum.

Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future about this or any other matter of importance to you.

If you have access to the Internet, I encourage you to frequently visit my web site,

Sincerely,
Bob Casey
United States Senator

So a response is certainly in order:

Mr. Casey,I would refer to you as Senator, but you have not earned that honor based on this response. Please sir, do not talk to me like I do not know what is going on. It is clear that I am more well versed in the issues facing this country and which you chose to pontificate on that you could ever hope to be.

I am sick of the talking points which you have been apparently well coached in. The fact that you are continuing with this farce about Limbaugh’s comments and the audacity that you are showing in that you would even attempt to pass them off before me as facts that somehow justify your actions has only served to make me ever question as to why I would ever vote for you. When I actually see you condemn your fellow Democrats for “slander” against our soldiers (ie. John Murtha, Dick Durbin, John Kerry, Harry Reid, etc. who have all slandered our troops) you might be able to make the case that you actually believe that such should be done. Instead all you are doing is playing politics and playing it very poorly I might add.

I did actually vote for you once because I believed that there might have been a little bit of your father in you. That was a mistake that I regret. Thankfully you have given me yet another reason to never do so again and justify my low opinion of you and your abilities to actually do the people’s business and to uphold the laws of this country.

It is no wonder this country is in the shape it is when a Senator acts in such a manner as you have. I can only hope that you will not be serving this country in such a capacity and taking payment from the American people for such poor service for too much longer and I will work diligently to help remove you from office and at least restore some sense of respect to the Senate.

You sir are an embarrassment to the Congress of these United States. But I suppose I should suspect nothing better from a man that is siding with any number of people that are working day and night to rewrite our Constitution, destroy our nation, demoralize our troops, redistribute wealth and enhance their own power.

By the way, are you going to have the courage to match the winning bid for the letter (which is on E-bay) for charity as Limbaugh has challenged you and the rest of the slime that signed it to do? Probably not.

Laus Deo,

We’ll see if the little boy down there in Washington chooses to respond again.

I doubt it. Probably in a local PA election. Of course Jeff wasn’t a very big Santorum fan either.
