Socialist Tendencies Of Americans On Display

I continue to say that the American public is schizophrenic when it comes to socialism, mostly because most of the American public doesn’t know what socialism is or who Karl Marx was. A poll by Rassmussen puts this on display:

Of those who knew of the veto, 57% disapproved and 31% supported the President’s action. Fifty-nine percent (59%) of Republicans approve of the President’s decision while 88% of Democrats disapprove. Among those not affiliated with either major party, 33% agree with the President and 50% do not.

This, of course, despite the fact that the vast majority of Americans claim that they support the Constitution!

So riddle me this. If you BELIEVE in the Constitution how can you then disapprove of President Bush vetoing an expansion of a socialist program with no justification under Article I of the Constitution? Because based on this poll and the other that I cited, there are apparently quite a few Americans that are for the Constitution … before they were against it that is.

I think the problem here is that most Americans know next to nothing about what is actually in the Constitution. And that is the way the socialists like it. Makes it easier to get their agenda passed in the long run when people don’t know the Constitution actually forbids 99.9% of what they want to do.
