Q&A: J.J. Jackson Answers Reader Mail (Part 2)

Evan writes:

Why do I see ads for Barack Obama on your site? Are you supporting him?

Ads on American Conservative Daily and our other sites are fed to us by our partners. If you see an Obama ad it is because he bought time with one of our partners and their computer algorithm has placed it here.

I do not support him or his socialist policies and quite frankly if he wants to waste his money putting ads up here then more power to him. Often I move to block ads from liberal candidates and causes but cannot catch them all.

I am willing to take his money which means he has fewer dollars to spend on advertising to people who actually care about his ideas.

If you see ads appearing that you think should not be displayed here (for example we nuke all the moonbat, anti-Iraq war, pro-abortion and 9/11 conspiracy sites) send a notice to advertising-at-thelandofthefree.net with a link to the site and we will look into it.

How do you keep your site so spam free? I’m impressed! I rarely if ever see spam comments compared to other sites.

Ancient Chinese secret. Literally. I have a couple little Chinese kids that I keep locked up in my basement who keep the site clean.

What is your overall impression of George Bush as President?

Good man but a poor leader. He has problems adhering to the Constitution and conservative principles far too often times for my liking. He’s better than a lot of the alternatives however.

What do you think about Ron Paul’s internet support?

See, this is what I am talking about. People wonder why I talk about Ron Paul. The answer is that day after day I get so many questions about him (mostly people wondering if he is as nutty as he sounds on foreign policy) that it tells me people are curious about him and I want to make sure I answer as many questions as possible.

As for Mr. Paul’s oft touted internet army I have yet to really see it. What I do see is that day after day when I check logs and run them through the parser is that it is the same 10 or 12 IP addresses coming here (often multiple times) from Ron Paul queries on the net. There have been days where we’ve had over 1,000 hits for the term “Ron Paul” but from just 10 separate IPs which makes me wonder what is up with these folks. Perhaps they are just trying to create the false impression that lots of people are searching for his name and maybe on a site with less technical capacity an owner might be fooled into thinking there were tons of Paulites hitting his site. But not here.

I’ve heard other stories and rumors from people who have confided in me about how his troops are making their numbers seem large but since I can’t confirm those I don’t worry about them. And I do have a man on the inside of the Paul movement who warns me about what they are going to try next which is how I am able to jump on the fallacies they put out so quickly and debunk them. Uh oh! Better go see if you can figure out who it is and purge him!

Good luck on that.

Do you think Rudy Giuliani will get the nod just because he is seen as able to beat Hillary?

I think that this is a very real possibility in that people in the Republican Party will vote for Rudy just to keep a hard core socialist out of the White House in 2008. I am not saying that is the right thing to do however. But there is something to be said for the strategy. If you had a choice between Hillary Clinton and Hitler I think a lot of people would vote for Hillary in a heartbeat just to go for the lesser of two evils.

Of course we’d still be screwed.

Tina writes:

Why didn’t you talk about [insert topic here]? Huh?

I made your question into a more general one by replacing your actual topic with the [insert topic here] tag for the purpose of this response since I get asked this a lot.

There are lots of topics that need discussed over the course of a week; more than I can possibly write about while running a business that involves more than just pounding out opinions. Invariably not everything gets discussed each and every week. And it isn’t even possible to do such even if I wanted to.

We’re always looking for quality writers to contribute posts here at American Conservative Daily. If you think you can add something and have a history of blogging that we can review then go ahead and apply for inclusion here.

George writes:

Ok I’m holding a gun to your head. Which GOPer are you going to vote for in the primaries?

You’re holding a gun to my head? Then my answer to that is to draw my .40 cal and take you out first. No one threatens me.

How do you find the news that you comment on? How do you ultimately decided what to comment on?

I read many newspapers every day including the Wall Street Journal, the Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, Washington Times, Houston Chronicle, etc. etc. etc. I also check out certain websites regularly including rasmussenreports.com to see what is going on in public opinion. On top of that, American Conservative Daily’s vast readership is constantly sending articles and news items and information on a daily basis that they pick up from other sources.

I decide what to comment on based on many factors, but most important of them is what I find interesting. But when I get a lot of heads ups from readers on a certain item it tells me that it is important to them and that maybe it is worth a comment as well.
