In an investigation aimed at illegal immigrants, federal agents arrested 50 people in the area over the past week, including nine with criminal convictions. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents got help from police in Kansas City, Independence, Grandview, Raytown, Kansas City, Kan., Overland Park, Lenexa, Olathe, Shawnee and Topeka.

Twenty-nine of the 50 arrested between Saturday and Wednesday had received deportation orders, but had not complied with them. As the agents arrested those fugitives, they also found and arrested 21 additional people.
