written by: Cheryl Preheim , Anchor/ReporterDENVER - Investigators say they have made a significant dent in a ring of car thieves that has stolen more than a million dollars worth of rental cars. The Denver District Attorney has charged four men who are accused of renting cars with fake IDs and then never returning them. Ismael Marrufo, Ramiro Escarsega, Zerafin Munoz-Lozano, and Marco Nunez-Peralta are in the Denver County Jail. Investigators say the men rented the most expensive vehicles available like Escalades and Hummers and then drove the SUVs and cars to Mexico. They targeted Payless, Budget, and Hertz rental car companies.
