FORT WORTH — Friday’s rearraignment hearing for Jose Lira-Rodriguez was routine. U.S. District Judge John McBryde solicited background information and asked questions to make sure that Lira-Rodriguez understands English and knew what he was doing as he pleaded guilty to a charge of illegal re-entry after deportation. Only passing reference was made to Lira-Rodriguez being in custody as part of the federal roundup of criminal alien gang members called Operation Community Shield. No mention was made, except in court documents, that he is a member of the Eastside Latin Kings.
