Funds for Schools that Give Birth Control to 11-Year-Olds?

(CNSNews.com) - A middle school in Portland, Maine, has decided to provide birth control pills and patches to its students, ages 11 to 13, and under the policy, parents may never know if their children get the birth control. Cybercast News Service hit Capitol Hill on Thursday to ask members of Congress whether the federal government should fund public school districts that provide such contraception to kids without parental notification.
Cybercast News Service interviewed Sens. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.), Larry Craig (R-Idaho), Ben Cardin (D-Md.), Pat Roberts (R-Kan.), John Sununu (R-N.H.), Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), as well as Rep. Tim Walberg (R-Mich.).
Should the federal government fund school districts that distribute birth control pills to 11-year-olds without parental notification?
Sen. Tom Coburn: (R-Okla.): “I think all of that should be decided in the states.” (Listen to audio)
Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Md.): “I’ll need to take a look at that one. I’m not aware of that circumstance. I think I’ll worry about Maryland right now.” (Listen to audio)

I just read a very insightful commentary on this whole birth control to kids subject. I highly recommend it, here is the link

Schools are not parents and should not be parents. If the parents of any child are so far gone that they require the school to be the ones to do the parenting then it is time to remove the child from that home.
Problem solved and no reason for the schools to become parents at all.
AMEN!
[...] The same liberals that want to offer 11 year olds birth control, have been found to not be reporting cases of suspected statutory rape. Portland’s school-based health centers have not been reporting all illegal sexual activity involving minors as required by law, but they will from now on, city officials said Thursday.Cumberland County District Attorney Stephanie Anderson questioned the health centers’ reporting practices after the Portland School Committee decided last week to offer prescription birth control at the King Middle School health center. The King Student Health Center has offered comprehensive reproductive health care, including providing condoms and testing for sexually transmitted diseases, since it opened in 2000. The school serves students in grades 6 to 8, ages 11 to 15. Maine law prohibits having sex with a person under age 14, regardless of the age of the other person involved, Anderson said.Well, looks like some good is coming out of this idiocy! [...]
