And You Thought I Was Joking About Smoking NAZIs?

To all of you that email me every time I discuss smoking bans and how it is only a matter of time before the nebby do-gooders in our government will try to ban smoking not just in public places or even private restaurants (which they call places of “public accommodation”) but also in your own home, take note:
Lawmakers in two California cities are casting votes this month on unprecedented legislation that would widen a growing voluntary movement by landlords and resident associations to ban smoking inside apartments and condos.Today in Calabasas, the City Council plans to vote on expanding its anti-smoking law to bar renters from lighting up inside existing apartments. It would exempt current resident smokers until they moved but would require all new buildings with at least 15 units, including condos, to be smoke-free.
Didn’t you liberals learn anything from your failed prohibition movement decades ago? Ever hear of private property rights?
Once again, smoking does not cause cancer or disease. It only increases the risk of getting something nasty. There are plenty of smokers who contract no diseases what-so-ever which makes the “smoking causes cancer” myth about as valid as man causes Global Warming hysteria. The Earth’s rotation and orbit and the fact that the sun has not burned out yet cause the sun to rise each morning in the East however. THAT is an example of cause. Increased risk does not equal “cause”. Deal with it and deal with the fact that people are going to smoke … even if you ban it. Which is exactly what they are trying to do.
But then ask yourselves if they are, by some suspension of disbelief, successful, what will they tax to make up for all the revenues they lose from those cigarette taxes? Yeah, you might think it won’t be an activity you participate in but you might want to think again. Remember, they are already going after your fast food and other items most Americans enjoy.

You are using common sense…….and that has gone out of style………we can blame public schools for that.
At least some of us are left who have common sense….Keep up the good work!!!
My daughter came home from school one day and told me how terrible smoking is and all of the bad things that happen when you do it. I said what did you learn about drugs and alcohol at school? She said nothing, mom. This was when she was in in 3rd grade now in 5th grade she came home last week and said some guy came in to talk about drugs. I asked her what she learned. She said they are bad that’s it.This coming from a kis who knows every component of a cigarette and every known associated disease. The government learned from prohibition. They can’t rip the cigarettes away, they have to start with the kids and teach them to hate them and turn society against them ,then they can ban them. Hitler hated smoking, too.
Well, technically there is nothing wrong with teaching kids that if they chose to smoke they increase their risk of certain diseases. But that is what must be taught. Not the OMG if you smoke you are going to die mantra that currently is perpetuated in the schools.
Then after they teach them this, they should have a thorough discussion about private property rights and liberty and that if someone else wants to smoke while they do not then that is none of their beeswax.
