Union Thinks It’s Above The Constitution

Well what do you expect when a bunch of liberals band together?
A major union filed a lawsuit Wednesday to stop U.S. immigration officials from conducting what it says are illegal workplace raids that violate the rights of workers. The United Food and Commercial Workers International Union claims agents unlawfully detained workers and violated their constitutional rights during December raids at six JBS Swift & Co. meatpacking plants. The lawsuit filed in Amarillo, Texas, also demands that the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement pay damages to the workers. It names as defendants Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff and Assistant Secretary Julie Myers, both agencies and unnamed federal agents who conducted the Swift raids.
Customs officials investigating identity theft arrested 1,297 workers at the plants, but union officials have said more than 12,000 workers were detained against their will during the operation. Plants were raided were in Texas, Nebraska, Colorado, Utah, Iowa and Minnesota.
And whose fault is it that 12,000 people were detained while the immigration sweep was going on? Could it perhaps be the fault of the company that hired them and the union that enables and defends their ability to do so?
Constitutional refresher here! The federal government has the right to create (and thereby enforce) immigration laws!
This argument is like saying that the government unlawfully detained millions of citizens on 9/11 when it shut down US Airspace and thereby trapped them away from somewhere other than where they wanted to be. Maybe if the union would look in the mirror they would see the real culprit.
But they’re libs. They’re never responsible.
