News Of Craig’s Demise Greatly Exaggerated?

This news certainly will not play well with left leaning Democrats, liberal moonbats, and political hacks of all stripes:
BOISE, Idaho (AP) - One of Sen. Larry Craig’s lawyers said Wednesday the Senate has no business looking into the conduct of one of its own following Craig’s guilty plea in connection with an airport men’s room sex sting. An unbroken line of precedents dating back 220 years makes clear the Senate does not consider misdemeanor private conduct to be a fit subject of inquiry, asserted Washington attorney Stan Brand.
“We ought to seek to have the committee dismiss this outright,” Brand said of a Senate ethics panel’s investigation. “The Republican leadership called for an ethics investigation that had nothing to do with his office,” said Brand on NBC’s “Today” show.
Craig says he may still fight for his Senate seat, a spokesman says - if the lawmaker can clear his name with the Senate ethics panel and a Minnesota court. http://apnews.myway.com/article/20070905/D8RFB0UO0.html
As I have said, show me an actual crime here rather than a nebulous guilty plea to disorderly conduct which we have a plethora of in the Congress if we want to go down that road. Show me a tape that verifies what the officer claims he saw which contradicts what Craig claims he did.
The guy has been under the cloud of homosexual suspicion and martial infidelity for some time without anything more than rumors. If that’s all it takes to get someone kicked out of office then I will start a rumor right now that Hillary Clinton uses male prostitutes three times a night! It’s not true and I admit that I have no evidence of it. But she has been accused. So Craig her!
Not a good idea is it?
Start impeachment proceedings against him if you want. Let the people vote him out in the next election if you want. But while there are still people like William Jefferson caught red handed with his cold, hard cash serving in the Senate and liberals still making excuses for Bill Clinton who was also caught red-handed suborning perjury and preventing Constitutional due process rights from happening I think we need a little more than an officer saying that he’s trained to recognize something and mysteriously divining the future before Craig is thrown under the bus.
There are actual real crimes with real evidence that go on in government every day that go unpunished. Can we actually start punishing them maybe?
