Dear FairTax supporters,

The waiting is over. We’re finally on the move!

In recent weeks, the FairTax has been positively spotlighted on ABC News, CNN, Fox News, in The Wall Street Journal, The Atlantic Monthly, National Review, The Des Moines Register, The Washington Times and on scores of political Web sites! We have been featured on more than 500 radio talk shows over the past year, and five of eight GOP presidential candidates (and one Democratic hopeful) have expressed support for passage.

But being in the limelight also means being in the crosshairs. Our new visibility and the growing popularity of the FairTax have badly shaken those who profit from the income tax system. Now they are attacking our campaign by blatantly distorting what the FairTax is all about in the national media.

Here’s a glimpse of what we’re up against: One columnist—in The Wall Street Journal no less—falsely asserts that the FairTax was, “originally devised by the Church of Scientology in the early 1990s as a way to get rid of the Internal Revenue Service.” If that shameless falsehood weren’t enough, he then piles on several more inaccurate and misleading statements in the same column. These attacks show just how far we have come and that we are having an impact at the national level. But it also means that we simply cannot allow such slanders to take root.

There is so much we still need to do to make the FairTax a reality, but we need your help at this crucial time to answer those who attack the FairTax while also moving our cause forward.

Now is the moment to fight off these attacks and continue winning over a grassroots “army” ready and capable of carrying the FairTax to passage. Now is the time to “get tough” but we need your help.

Our early primary state strategy worked beautifully but it cost us. Even with reduced operating costs and an amazingly dedicated staff working seven day weeks, we must now raise a “war budget” that will allow us to keep up the fight—and win national public opinion for the FairTax.

The FairTax bus—which was a huge hit in Iowa—costs us thousands of dollars per month but has been the best traveling billboard for the FairTax ever. We want this bus seen in every state—and parked in front of the IRS!

Please generously contribute today to keep this bus seen throughout the nation, to keep up our intense media work and to help us grow the grassroots army.

We cannot pause for even a moment and cannot let our opponents define the FairTax in the minds of the public.
