Dems Backtrack on Ending War

Anti-liberty moonbats from sea to shining sea are no doubt furious!

HANOVER, N.H. (AP) - The leading Democratic White House hopefuls conceded Wednesday night they cannot guarantee to pull all U.S. combat troops from Iraq by the end of the next presidential term in 2013.”I think it’s hard to project four years from now,” said Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois in the opening moments of a campaign debate in the nation’s first primary state.

“It is very difficult to know what we’re going to be inheriting,” added Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York.

“I cannot make that commitment,” said former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina.

But … but … there was a “mandate” wasn’t there? Wasn’t that what the 2006 election was supposedly about? Forget the fact that Joe Lieberman (pro-Iraq War) beat his anti-Iraq War opponent the Dems put up against him.

Basically this is what you can take from these statements. As it looks less and less likely that the left will be able to manufacture a loss in Iraq under George Bush’s watch, the Democrats are becoming more tempered in their responses to make sure they don’t lose it on their watch IF they manage to win the White House.

It is strange watching people of any political stripe trying to work out a victory or even just progress in Iraq. It is even more curious that supporting the war means supporting our troops and vice versa. As if the Vietnam war and the national debates over the morality of that war never happened.

There is no connection between Iraq and 9/11. No connection between Al Quaeda and Iraq or Saddam. No WMD, no terror threat from Iraq then or now. And yet, thinking critically about this national tragedy equates to not supporting our troops.

Our military ought to be the most fearsome force in the world. If you attack America you should be assured that you, your family, your neighbors, your cat and your dog to the thrid generation will immediately die a horrible death. Instead, we politely flew Bin Laden’s family to Saudi in the days following 9/11, diddled around in Afghanistan until Bin Laden escaped and then invaded a country which was not connected at all to the attacks.

In 1953 we deposed mossadeq and installed the Shah of Iran as dictator. When radical muslims took over in Iran we armed and funded Saddam. Remember the funding for the Iran Contras, and the funding and training we provdided to Bin Laden? We are not being attacked because they hate our freedoms or any of the other crackpot reasons advanced by politicos on both sides of the aisle. we are being attacked because we have made such a mess of thinsg for so many decades. I would attack us too if I lived there.

Support our troops by bringing them home now. Support our troops by using the nearly $1 trillion spent on the war to make our military unassailable. And then use them only when a clear defense of the US is needed.

This Blog takes great pride in being from the conservative view. but like so many conservatives today, most of the people posting here do not realize how indistinguishable their views have become from the liberals. This ought to be about upholding and defending the Constitution from all enemies foreign AND DOMESTIC. Instead, in order to be regarded as conservative, we have to blindly support an administration that has systematically attacked our rights as guarateed by the Constitution in furtherance of a war which can have no victory, because it against a people which are not the real enemy.

It is time to stand up and be counted as Americans and patriots, not as republicans and democrats, not as conservatives and liberals.

Boy, you apparently haven’t read much of this blog then if you think that Jeff’s views are indistinguishable from those of liberals.

Let me sum up what you really mean. You are upset because this site promote the unalienable rights of ALL mankind and their right to pursue their own freedom and supports the war in Iraq. You think that interventionism is wrong, but this site gets on your nerves because it supports the same libertarian policy of our founders which is that there is nothing wrong with other countries standing up and helping people in their pursuit of liberty (i.e. France in our own war for independence at the behest of the founders).

“Support our troops by bringing them home now.”

Some how I doubt any of our active duty personnel or veterans that often post here agree with this sentiment. You know, considering that since this war began so many have joined and re-upped specifically in a time of war supporting the mission.

    OOHRAH!

You know someone is a whackjob when they can’t discuss the actual history about why Iraq got invaded (such as breaking the ceasefire) and start talking about 9/11 and blah blah blah!

As a vet LP I’ll tell you that you are a true patriot, just like Jeff. Joseph here, not so much.

Until the day where my sons who are both in Iraq tell me “Dad, this isn’t worth it,” I will continue to support our troops and that includes supporting their mission to bring some semblance of liberty to those that have had little. That is their God given right.

Some people believe that all men have certain unalienable rights and others don’t. We can see that in this discussion. What’s great is that those that do believe in such are obviously more plentiful judging by the response.
