UN To Invade Darfur!
J.J. Jackson | August 2, 2007
There has been trouble in Darfur for years. A brutal regime has run roughshod over Christians and other people living within the Sudan’s borders. And now the United Nations has decided based on a unanimous Security Council vote to deploy 26,000 “peacekeepers” to the nation. Basically they have decided to invade.
NEW YORK: The UN Security Council has voted unanimously to authorize the deployment of up to 26,000 peacekeepers to try to stop the violence in Darfur in western Sudan, where approximately 200,000 people have been killed in four years of conflict.
The people of Darfur have been begging and pleading for help and now the world has responded.
A just invasion? It is if you believe that all men are endowed by their Creator with unalienable rights and that people have an inherent duty to help those that have asked for help in obtaining such rights.
The problem is that many of those that support the invasion of the Darfur region of Sudan justify this action while they denounced similar action in Iraq. And let’s not forget that there were even bigger reasons for the latter beyond just the humanitarian crisis created by Saddam such as violation of the ceasefire, funding of terrorists, trying to assassinate the first President Bush and so on.
The answer is simple. Iraq was at least seem as a potential military power. Sudan is seen as weak. And those that applaud Darfur while denouncing Iraq show their true colors … they will only confront the weak and cower from a potential fight.
