SAN DIEGO — Dozens of people connected to violent gangs are now off the streets of North County, according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials. ICE agents say they arrested a total of 128 people during a sweep. All of those arrested are Mexican citizens, officials said. The sheriff’s department said many of the arrests took place around Autumn Drive and Pico Avenue in San Marcos. Sixty of those arrested are gang members or associated with gangs, officials said. The other 68 are suspected illegal immigrants, many with criminal records. All of them will be deported, according to ICE agents. The arrests were made during the past two weeks in the largest local dragnet carried out as part of ICE’s Operation Community Shield.
