Heidi Cullen’s has a kindred spirit in Sharon Begley who whines that those who are working to spread the truth about the global warming is man-made scaremongers are nothing more than a “well-coordinated, well-funded campaign by contrarian scientists, free-market think tanks and industry”:
Aug. 13, 2007 issue – Sen. Barbara Boxer had been chair of the Senate’s Environment Committee for less than a month when the verdict landed last February. “Warming of the climate system is unequivocal,” concluded a report by 600 scientists from governments, academia, green groups and businesses in 40 countries. Worse, there was now at least a 90 percent likelihood that the release of greenhouse gases from the burning of fossil fuels is causing longer droughts, more flood-causing downpours and worse heat waves, way up from earlier studies. Those who doubt the reality of human-caused climate change have spent decades disputing that. But Boxer figured that with “the overwhelming science out there, the deniers’ days were numbered.” As she left a meeting with the head of the international climate panel, however, a staffer had some news for her. A conservative think tank long funded by ExxonMobil, she told Boxer, had offered scientists $10,000 to write articles undercutting the new report and the computer-based climate models it is based on. “I realized,” says Boxer, “there was a movement behind this that just wasn’t giving up.”
If you think those who have long challenged the mainstream scientific findings about global warming recognize that the game is over, think again. Yes, 19 million people watched the “Live Earth” concerts last month, titans of corporate America are calling for laws mandating greenhouse cuts, “green” magazines fill newsstands, and the film based on Al Gore’s best-selling book, “An Inconvenient Truth,” won an Oscar. But outside Hollywood, Manhattan and other habitats of the chattering classes, the denial machine is running at full throttle—and continuing to shape both government policy and public opinion.
She rambles and blurts about how us evil “deniers” are doing such a disservice to her cause and the spread of control over the people through pseudo-science and hoaxes. She is certainly well read in the talking point memo on Global Warming being caused by evil humans. That much is certain.
But she doesn’t mention much about how Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth” is chocked full of “convenient lies” and the such. No, she just rails against the “deniers” who have enough active brain cells to realize that her and her ilk never account for obvious causes such as the sun and natural cycles. And she was given six pages by Newsweek to prove her ignorance.Sharon and her ilk are the real “deniers”. They still cannot explain how the Earth was so warm during the time of the dinosaurs without the presence of evil man. They can’t explain much … except that they know man is to blame because man is always to blame especially those men that are EVIL capitalists … RAAAARHHHHHHHHH!
I guess it is time to ask the question of Sharon. Who made you queen and arbiter of what the best climate for the Earth should be? And when after being appointed queen did you decide to suspend the laws of physics and the natural world so that you could justify your preposterous theories?
Let the “fear mongering” of the “deniers” of nature continue.
Perhaps Sharon should do a little reading. Here’s a start but be warned there is actual scientific content in these books:

Ms. Begley is no journalist and she should be barred from pretending to be one by Newsweek. I’m still waiting for all the Cat 5 Hurricanes we were promised because of our evil, planet destroying ways.
And another thing, ever notice how the hole in the ozone layer isn’t that big of deal as of late? Could it be perhaps that the radical enviro-Marxists finally realized their scare mongering on that issue wasn’t taking hold and that people with actual scientific knowledge began looking at it and debunking the myths?
