Congressman Filner is Better Than You

Have an inflated ego? Think you are better than everyone else? Believe the rules don’t apply to you? The United States Congress wants you!

That’s right, if you think that you are of a higher class than the common folk of America you can be elected to Congress … probably as a Democrat although the Republican party also has their share of these egomaniacs.

Witness Congressman Filner who displayed his “I’m better than you attitude”:

Take the case of Rep. Bob Filner from San Diego who had a major freak out at Dulles airport the other day while waiting for his bags. He thought the baggage was coming too slowly. So he stormed into an office complaining, and when he was told he couldn’t enter an employees-only area, he shoved aside a United Airlines worker and went into a back office where he found another worker on the phone to the police.

Now you and I have problems with baggage carousels all the time. Ever met anybody who thinks baggage shows up promptly? How many times have you seen a passenger charging into the back room demanding action? Well, if you have seen it you probably saw that passenger arrested.

Same with Congressman Filner. The cops came and informed him an airline worker was filing assault charges. Airport authorities say the congressman was charged with assault and battery, a class one misdemeanor.

And the best part? As Filner was hassling with the cops about his beefing with the airport workers, his bag arrived on the carousel.

No joke! Hey Congressman Filner join the freaking club! Heaven forbid you wait for you precious bags like a mere commoner!

Of course the Congressman (ala Cynthia McKinney) denies the reports!

Rep. Bob Filner, D-Calif., has issued a statement about the allegations that he pushed a baggage worker during a dispute Sunday at Dulles Airport in suburban Washington.”Congressman Bob Filner is on his way to Iraq, visiting our troops, and will have a full statement when he returns,” his office tells Roll Call. “Suffice it to say now, that the story that has appeared in the press is factually incorrect — and the charges are ridiculous.” http://blogs.usatoday.com/ondeadline/2007/08/congressmans-of.html

Well, airports usually have pretty good surveillance so we will probably find out.

The statement by police was given as follows:

Around 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 19, Airports Authority police were called to the United Airlines bag claim office at Dulles for a report of an incident with a passenger regarding his baggage. The individual allegedly attempted to enter an area authorized for airline employees only, pushed aside the employee’s outstretched arm and refused to leave the area when asked by an airline employee.

When MWAA officers arrived a few minutes later, the man had left the office and was waiting in the area of a bag carousel. Officers interviewed him and witnesses and released him. Before the individual left the airport, officers advised him that the airline employee would be pursuing charges. The airline employee appeared before a Loudoun County magistrate later that evening and a summons was obtained charging Robert Filner (DOB 9/4/1942) with assault and battery, a Class 1 misdemeanor. Mr. Filner is scheduled to appear in Loudoun County General District Court on Oct. 2.

Filner apparently has issues with following the law and has “sneaked” into restricted areas before!

WASHINGTON – Rep. Bob Filner’s alleged altercation with an airline employee in Virginia on Sunday, which led to an assault-and-battery charge against the San Diego Democrat, wasn’t his first such run-in, according to a 2003 Justice Department incident report. The report alleges that Filner went to an immigration detention facility in El Centro at 6 p.m. on Feb. 22, 2003, and demanded to see a detainee. After officers told him he could not enter the facility, he slipped past them into a secure area and refused to leave when ordered to do so. He then tried unsuccessfully to push his way past detention officers to get farther inside the facility, according to the report.

Filner became argumentative and the detention officers called El Centro police. The police came to the facility, but no charges were filed, according to the report. Filner eventually was allowed to visit with the Pakistani detainee. The congressman apologized to the immigration officers on his way out of the facility, the report said.

But … but … don’t these people know who he is? He’s Congressman Filner – man above the law!

Now that’s something I ain’t heard since Duke of Hazzard :D

I personally think that Congressman Filner is a disgrace right up there with Cythia McKinney.

Whether Congressman Filner is a Democrat or Republican is irrelevant. The fact of the matter is, this man has dedicated his entire life to public service, and was visiting out troops in Iraq. The DC Airport Authority is making it a practice to beat up, harrass, arrest and place false charges on ordinary, non-criminal citizens. Its shameful that Congressman Filner can be arrested for bogus charges, girls can be beaten and have bogus charges against them (the girl who was beaten and given a concussion at Reagan National Airport), and even mothers and babies can be harassed and threatened with criminal prosecution (the sippy cup terrorist). There needs to be a major investigation into these illegal practices at the DC Area airports.

Nice rant :D Meaningless but nice.

If you look at what Jeff said, he said: “That’s right, if you think that you are of a higher class than the common folk of America you can be elected to Congress … probably as a Democrat although the Republican party also has their share of these egomaniacs.”

So why would you start with the boilerplate “it doesn’t matter if he is R or D” response when that point was already made by him?

Seems like you are all too eager to take the side of Filner over the cops and others at the scene. Which makes me skeptical of your motives.
