FLORIDA TODAYWest Melbourne police rounded up 15 illegal immigrants Tuesday afternoon and turned them over to immigration officials. The men were found trespassing in a wooded lot behind the Bob Evans restaurant on Palm Bay Road, police spokesman Cmdr. Steve Wilkinson said. They said they were picking palmetto berries, he said. Fourteen men were identified as Mexican nationals and one was Guatemalan, Wilkinson said. They all admitted they were in the country illegally and had no passports or work visas, he said. They were taken into custody and turned over to the U.S. Border Patrol, which charged them with entering the U.S. without inspection, Wilkinson said.
