CLAYTON, N.Y. (AP) - A tip from a boater led to the arrest of a German citizen who entered the US illegally at the northern New York border. Customs and Border Protection officers at Ogdensburg say they got a call from a concerned citizen on July 7th, saying he had just seen a man with a German accent being dropped off by a boat at a public dock on the Saint Lawrence River. The Border Patrol went to investigate and apprehended a 35-year-old man who turned out to be a German citizen without proper documentation to enter the United States. He told agents that he kayaked across the Saint Lawrence from Canada and then got a boat ride to the docks in Clayton. Agents said it turns out that the same man was apprehended in Vermont and deported for trying to enter the US illegally in 2005.
