T-shirt Straw Poll - New Update

J.J. Jackson* | June 18, 2007

Another week in the can and it’s time for another T-shirt Straw Poll update!  These results are based on sales over the last seven days.
Fred Thompson – 31%

Mitt Romney – 16%

Newt Gingrich – 12%

Tom Tancredo – 12%

Rudy Giuliani – 12%

Sam Brownback – 6%

Mike Huckabee – 3%

Ron Paul – 3%

Duncan Hunter - 2%

John McCain – 2%

Condoleezza Rice – 1%

Fred Thompson still has a commanding lead at the expense of other candidates who continue to fall off slightly.  Most other candidates are hanging around their last week percentages with Huckabee, Paul, Hunter, McCain and Rice all jockeying to try and stay out of last place.

If your candidate isn’t doing as well as you like, well, buy something of their’s from our shop to vote!  Sucessful and non-returned orders all count as one vote per item bought.

What exactly does this prove? That supporters of bush 2.0 have more money to spend than the rest of us? I’m confused . . . .

Aw … another whiner who doesn’t like the results I see.

It shows who is spending money to promote their candidates and it stops the Paulites (like you judging by your link) from spiking the poll. Sucks to actually have to put your money where your mouth is rather than just spamming an internet poll huh?

Of course even the Paulites have tried that. Maybe Jeff can update us on whether or not the rate of declined orders for Ron Paul do to bad/fraudulent credit card iformation is still running higher than all other candidates combined.

What is with all the excitement about Fred Thompson. Is this site Sean Hannity’s Ass sniffers .org or what? He lacks a direction and he is completely boring. He was on Law and Order, big f-ing deal. Just because Sean Hannity or Bill O’Rielly says Fred Thompson is a conservative doesn’t mean he is.

There are only two conservatives up there. Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul. No I am not a spammer either. It’s the truth though. Newt’s not going to run this time around, so I am left with one choice.

Question though for all the people who hate the “Paulites.” What do you not like about Ron Paul besides his opposition to the IRAQ WAR? (Mind you he was not against the Afgan War because it was just, Bin Ladin attacked us, Afghanistan was where he was based)

Paul is pro-gun, pro-life, anti-IRS, anti-immigration, pro-small FED. GOVT. When he talks about getting rid of the Department of Education, he is not talking about getting rid of public education, rather eliminating federal control of it. That goes the same on any issue, from abortion to taxation, why should the national government dictate what every state must do. The people in California are different from the people in Iowa who are different from the poeple in Alabama who are different from the people in Maine. Why should all these different people with different cultures and values have to obey the dictations of a central government that does not really represent them.

Ron Paul is saying return government to the states where it can really be changed by the will of the constituents. Change can happen in a state of 3 million, but not in a country of 300 million.

Is any other candidate saying this? Are any of you understanding this?

Yet another whiner Ron. And apparently another one of them Ron Paul supporters who make all sorts of accusations when facts don’t back them up.

FYI Linden, I am almost possitive that most of those sales (the vast majority) come from people that are NOT members of this site. I know Jeff has a lot of readers but I have seen the numbers of sales he is pumping out and it is well in excess of those! Facts man. FACTS!

Do I expect much less from a Ron Paul “Ass sniffer”? Not any more I don’t. Your credibility is severly shot when you open comments up like that.

I realize you would probably like a poll you can just click and click and click and spike the heck out of, but this isn’t the case.

Bret and Lenden are just upset because this poll is a heck of a lot more accurate based on what I see to real life than all the webpolls that Ron Paul supporters have spammed the crap out of so they can show their boy up to 30 or 40%.
    Fred Thompson – 31%
    Mitt Romney – 16%
    Newt Gingrich – 12%
    Tom Tancredo – 12%
    Rudy Giuliani – 12%

Compared to the recent Utah poll: http://www.tahoebonanza.com/article/20070613/Nevada/106130018

    Fred Thompson 28.8%
    Rudy Giuliani 18.4%
    Mitt Romney 14.6%
    John McCain 8.9%
    Newt Gingrich 8.6%

The only difference I see here is Mr. Jackson’s poll has McCain with little support and Tancredo instead in the top 5. But all other candidates in the top 5 are within 2-6% of their strawpoll numbers which is pretty impressive for a poll that is clearly non-scientific.

Every now and again we get a Paulite post and whine. But most of them have realized there is no point and run away screaming for their mommy. A couple weeks ago when their guy had double digits in this same poll they were crowing about how they were so high among “declared” candidates! Now that they have all spent their allowances and the numbers have fallen back to reality they just poo poo it.

And I am not sure what Linden’s fuss is about considering Newt is currently running third. Personally Newt’s got too much of that “government can fix this” mentality for my liking.

Sorry if the poll isn’t turning out the way you want buddy.

  7. PinguMama on June 18th, 2007 9:53 pm

I think Jeff just keeps this poll going because he knows it is good for some sweet “Ron Paul” hits from the search engines every time he mentions Ron Paul :D

And they joy he gets from tweaking them is just secondary.

  8. J.J. Jackson on June 18th, 2007 9:57 pm

Nah, the “Ron Paul” hits are not the reason I do it.

I do it because I want to see how accurate this poll is compared to the end result on primary election day. And unless I make the polls public then there is no way to verify or discredit them. Plus they are great publicity for the designs and drum up tons of business.

Besides, most of the Paulites just post because they are trying to scrounge up hits and maybe get some search engine bonuses … which is of course why all links are nofollow here ;)

    @ Ron Paul supporters:

Your candidate has no support to speak of among conservatives. Deal with it.

Ron said: “Maybe Jeff can update us on whether or not the rate of declined orders for Ron Paul do to bad/fraudulent credit card iformation is still running higher than all other candidates combined.”

Looks like the Paulites have given up the “order and return” strategy or just using bad credit cards as much as they were. They are no longer double the rate of return of all other candidates combined. When they realized they weren’t going to get their votes counted by doing such things they apparently moved on to other projects … like spiking internet polls.

I did get an email from one of the serial offenders actually apologizing for being such a prick which was nice. He was quite impressed that I was actually selling as much as I do and thought initially that ordering a couple “large” orders would swing the poll. Little did he know that our volume is so high that even a couple sizable orders don’t make a huge difference overall. He has since been buying bumper stickers at a lower price in bulk that I have given him to resell :D And now he gets his orders counted each week.

The return rate is now down below our usual rate (which is basically 0%) and the decline rate has been nil the last couple weeks as well. Which is good. Because I really hated to have to keep pointing it out and making them look silly.

You know, I see this a lot. A lot of people (who at least claim to be libertarian) not supporting Paul. Now I’ve been reading your stuff for a while Mr. Jackson and I do believe that you are certainly VERY libertarian. Not like me. I’m definitely more of a classical conservative.

    Really? Huh. That’s interesting.
