Pelosi Upset That Chavez Enacted His Own “Fairness Doctrine” Early

href=”http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601086&sid=aia9a2weAY1I&refer=latin_america “>U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called on Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez to reconsider a shutdown of the country’s most-watched television station, saying the move suppresses free speech.

“President Chavez should know that efforts to suppress the media will not only ultimately fail, but are also a detriment to one of the pillars of democracy: freedom of expression,” Pelosi said in a statement today in Washington. “He should reconsider this ill-advised decision.”

Nancy Pelosi and other liberals are upset because Hugo Chavez has enacted his own “Fairness Doctrine” where he decided that RCTV was not being “fair” to his side? It’s just similar to what liberals want to do by demanding that broadcast outlets here in the States give equal time to dissenting views … no matter how idiotic.

The last thing the American left wanted was a demonstration of how their own proposed policies would work to act as a warning against enacting them.
