RALEIGH, N.C., June 16 — In a case that has brought one surprise after another, a disciplinary hearing panel found Michael B. Nifong, the Durham County district attorney, guilty today of ethical violations while pressing a false accusation of sexual assault against three former Duke University lacrosse players. The panel then ruled that Mr. Nifong should be disbarred.
I think that everyone who stayed on this case from bloggers to national talkshow hosts pointing out the problems with how Nifong conducted the Duke Lacrosse case should be commended. Because if it wasn’t for those people there might very well be three young men sitting in jail based on no solid evidence against them other than a young woman with a history of making such claims who changed her story more than a presidential candidate.
Justice has at last been served with regards to Nifong.
