Don’t Want To Be Deported? Marry A Soldier.
J.J. Jackson | June 23, 2007
The wife of the hero Queens soldier still missing in action in Iraq no longer faces deportation, a U.S. Homeland Security Department spokeswoman said late yesterday.
The potential move had set off a firestorm of outrage from elected officials yesterday – both locally and nationwide.
Yaderlin Jimenez is from the Dominican Republic and entered the U.S. illegally in 2001, said her lawyer Matthew Kolken.
Yaderlin’s Purple Heart-winning husband, Alex, trying to do the right thing, applied for a green card for his wife, whom he married in 2004, Kolken said.
But even though he is a naturalized citizen, her illegal entry into America had landed her in hot water.
However, the deportation case was closed in May 2006, and there are no plans to reopen it, said Jamie Zuieback, a homeland security spokeswoman.
“There is no move to deport her,” Zuieback said. “We, like all Americans, hope for Spec. Jimenez’s safe return.”
First, with regards to Spec. Jimenez I hope and pray that he is alright.
Secondly, with regards to his knowingly harboring an illegal alien, I find that very disappointing coming from a man who took an oath to uphold and protect the Constitution.
Thirdly, she is illegal and should be deported post haste. But of course, since when do we uphold our immigration laws around here right? We’re too busy finding any excuse we can to let them stay so why should this case be any different?

As a Marine I am very disapointed in this man and the government for their actions. Although I do hope he is found safe.
