Valerie Plame Still Needs to Explain
Posted By: J.J. Jackson* on May 31, 2007
Sounds to me like she changed her story alright…sounds like perjury to me! String her up right along with Scooter Libby! Right libs? Right?
WASHINGTON — Former CIA officer Valerie Plame should explain “differences” in her various accounts of how her husband was sent to the African nation of Niger in 2002 to investigate reports Iraq was trying to buy uranium there, the vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee said.
Plame’s differing versions have furthered “misinformation” about the origins of the case that roiled Washington beginning in July 2003, said Sen. Kit Bond, R-Mo. Plame gave those accounts to the CIA’s inspector general, Senate investigators and a House committee in March.
A February 2002 CIA memo released last week as part of a study of pre-Iraq-war intelligence shows that Plame suggested her husband, former State Department official Joseph Wilson, for the Niger trip, Bond said. That “doesn’t square” with Plame’s March testimony in which she said an unnamed CIA colleague raised her husband’s name, Bond told USA TODAY.
Here are Plame’s three versions of how Wilson was sent to Niger, according to Bond:
•She told the CIA’s inspector general in 2003 or 2004 that she had suggested Wilson.
•Plame told Senate Intelligence Committee staffers in 2004 that she couldn’t remember whether she had suggested Wilson.
•She told the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee in March that an unidentified person in Vice President Cheney’s office asked a CIA colleague about the African uranium report in February 2002. A third officer, overhearing Plame and the colleague discussing this, suggested, “Well, why don’t we send Joe?” Plame told the committee.
CIA officials have been unable to verify Plame’s March version, Bond said. Paul Gimigliano, a CIA spokesman, said the “public record on the matter is extensive, and, at this point, I can’t add anything to it.”
What’s that? Oh you don’t really care about the truth? You just want a scalp? You just wanted a perjury trap to nail a “republican”?
Come on. Haven’t we learned anything after the catch and release of Sandy “are those classified documents in my pants?” Berger? People with a good enough story to tell are never held to account … as long as that story helps them “get” whomever they are trying to “get”.

J.J. - ya’ just don’t get it. It doesn’t matter a hill of beans who sent/recommended/suggested/advised that Joe Wilson go to Niger. The only thing that matters is that the claim was a lie and the Bush administration knew it was a lie before they used it in the SOU. It had been removed from 2 prior speeches before the SOU. But if this helps you keep your hate-on throughout the political season, and truly prevents you from addressing the larger point, namely, that the Bush administration knowingly lied this nation into an unnecessary war, and then willingly outed a covert CIA agent (real smart for the ’strong on security’ crowd), knock yourselves out. It keeps the phrase “willful ignorance” from fading away into obscurity.
Doug
Huh? Still on the Bush lied in the SOU talking points I see?
She was not covert. She was outted by the Russians years before. Hard to be covert under that circumstance huh?
The only person “willfully ignorant here is a man named Doug with an agenda he will take to his grave.
Laughable Doug. Even the woman that helped right the law that covered covert agents and their protection said she DID NOT meet the standards of the law she helped write. Are you one of those people that also rewrites the meaning of sections of the Constutution you don’t like? Do you ignore what the people who actually wrote that as well?
What’s next? Want to tell us there was no airplane at the Pentagon? Because that’s exactly what you sound like; a barking moonbat reading DNC talking points.
Notice how he talked about EVERYTHING except the topic of the article which was Plame’s own lies? He just poo pooed that saying it doesn’t matter. He talked about the evil, lying, warmongering Bush a lot thought.
Doug it matters a lot. Especially when he says one thing and then turns around and says another. Guess they are the perfect match though because looks like she is the same way.
FYI Doug the Brits stand by that (what you call) “lie” in the SOU. Oh, and what also matters is that Wilson ALSO confirmed it before he turned around and said it was a lie.
Oh no! The evil Jooooooooooooos!
They took us into that “unecessary” war!
The assault on Plame is just Bush trying to cover up for his Joo friends!
Lol!
How much longer are these people going to defend the lynching of Scooter Libby over a war they just disagree with?
