WASHINGTON - Folk singer and anti-war activist Joan Baez says she doesn’t know why she was not allowed to perform for recovering soldiers recently at Walter Reed Army Medical Center as she planned.
In a letter to The Washington Post published Wednesday, she said rocker John Mellencamp had asked her to perform with him last Friday and that she accepted his invitation.
“I have always been an advocate for nonviolence and I have stood as firmly against the Iraq war as I did the Vietnam War 40 years ago,” she wrote.
Come on Joan are you serious? You “don’t know why” you weren’t allowed to perform for men and women that you don’t support? If you are for “non-violence” then you certainly are not for or respect the need for a military or soldiers to serve in said military so why on Earth would you even want to perform for people who volunteered to be in the military and fight for something you don’t believe in?
Listen Joan, I know you are hard up for gigs but that’s no reason to try and get your buddy Mellancamp to get you a job somewhere you have no business going. If you’re going to be “anti-war” then be “anti-war” and stay away from the troops.

My sister-in-law is a liberal and she actually gets a shocked looked on her face when someone tells her to keep her liberal crap to herself in family settings. Baez may actually not understand that people don’t want her around with her crap. Talk about a captive audience — although they at least have pain killers to take.. the rest of us have to suffer.
