Governor Sebelius Gets Upset Over Statements … But Not Hers

J.J. Jackson | May 12, 2007

As you know I have been following claims by Jim Quinn that Kansas Governor Sebelius made blatantly false statements about the state of the National Guard in Kansas, blaming the Iraq War for draining state resources and inhibiting response to the Greensburg tornado. Her remarks were demonstrated to be false and the fact that the Iraq War did not impair response is now well documented. But now she is the one accusing Mr. Quinn of creating a “political circus“ by reporting on what a source had fed to him:

“I am outraged that the Quinn & Rose show has aired a report suggesting that my efforts to highlight the need to replace National Guard equipment lost in Iraq are inspired by anything other than my responsibilities as commander-in-chief of the Kansas National Guard. The accusation that I received a call from anyone, encouraging me to take on this issue following the devastating tornado in Greensburg, is one-hundred-percent false — period.

“Making up stories like this, designed to turn the tragedy at Greensburg into some kind of political circus, is a shameful affront to the citizens of Greensburg and the citizen soldiers of the National Guard,” she added.

I guess it would be too much to expect her to be upset at the “political circus” she tried to start with her initial and specious claims right?

Poor, poor Governor Sebelius. Funny thing is, if SHE had not been the one to initiate the “political circus” by making false claims there wouldn’t even be these rumors. Typical DNC playbook material here; politicize an event and then blame everyone else for the fall out.

You’re right Governor, turning the tornado into a political circus LIKE YOU DID is absolutely shameful.
