More Evidence of Mars Warming

Members of the Environmental Gestapo certainly will not be happy about this.

Mars is being hit by rapid climate change and it is happening so fast that the red planet could lose its southern ice cap, writes Jonathan Leake.
Scientists from Nasa say that Mars has warmed by about 0.5C since the 1970s. This is similar to the warming experienced on Earth over approximately the same period.

Since there is no known life on Mars it suggests rapid changes in planetary climates could be natural phenomena.
The mechanism at work on Mars appears, however, to be different from that on Earth. One of the researchers, Lori Fenton, believes variations in radiation and temperature across the surface of the Red Planet are generating strong winds.
In a paper published in the journal Nature, she suggests that such winds can stir up giant dust storms, trapping heat and raising the planet’s temperature.

Fenton’s team unearthed heat maps of the Martian surface from Nasa’s Viking mission in the 1970s and compared them with maps gathered more than two decades later by Mars Global Surveyor. They found there had been widespread changes, with some areas becoming darker.

The answer is clear! Haliburton must be secretly on Mars drilling for oil!

Illegal immigrants could earn citizenship under new Hagel plan

Hagel introduced legislation to senators Thursday focused solely on illegal immigrants already living in the country. “We’re getting close to the time, at least in my opinion, where we’re past just talking,” Hagel said. “You can become so consumed with the process that you never ever get to a product.” Illegal immigrants would have to pay $2,000 in fines and fees, pass background checks, pay back taxes, show proficiency in the English language and U.S. history, and register with the Selective Service. They would then be evaluated on factors including work history, education level, family, English proficiency, civic engagement and the amount of time they have been in the country. Illegal immigrants who earn a certain number of points would qualify for a greencard, but would have to wait behind those who have already applied as a legal immigrant. “This is not amnesty,” Hagel said.The Voice

Paging Rosie O’Donnell … Paging Rosie the Moonbat!

Ok, so we all knew (at least those of us with more than two active brain cells) that Rosie was off the deep end when she proclaimed that the World Trade Center Collapse was the “first time” fire had ever melted steel. Of course, working in the steel industry as I do I immediately fired off an email to the powers that be at The View explaining heat and how it effects the strength of steel. That email went without response, probably because I even offered to come on the show and explain the truth in small words so even Rosie could understand it.

But now we have another incident of “fire” causing devastation to steel structures and I just want Rosie to make sure she takes note of it since it would be, by her insanity, only the “second” time this has happened.

John Q. Liberal Returns!

I know, I know … we’ve missed our friend John Q. Liberal who was for a while giving us the liberal answer to the posts I made here. But what many of you do not know is the reason why he stopped and has been unable to respond. Well, the truth is that his head popped.

It was a pretty hairy situation, but thanks to the quick response of medical personnel and some time in the hospital Mr. Liberal is back and ready to give us his take on the issues of the day with each post I make.

Giuliani Rails Against Socialized Medicine … Sort Of

GOP presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani has apparently taken a firm stand against socialized medicine in his bid top woo conservative Republican voters in the primary. Well sort of.

“They’re moving toward socialized medicine so fast, it’ll make your head spin,” Giuliani said, adding that private solutions could help bring down the cost of care.

But don’t get too excited. Rudy still apparently believes that it is government’s role to insure people and provide health insurance (i.e. socialized medicine)

“When we want to cover poor people, as we should, we give them vouchers.”

So basically he is pulling a John Kerry; only he is against socialized medicine before he is for it.

Giuliani might make a fine Commander in Chief, but I still maintain that he would be a horrific Chief executive with no real regard for limited government.

According to the AP, John Edwards issued the standard, boiler plate liberal response of “Rudy Giuliani needs to put an end to his campaign to divide America and concentrate on offering solutions to the big challenges we face.” Come on, you didn’t actually expect anything of substance from Mr. $400 haircut did you?

Edwards is busy promoting his idea of forced socialized medicine as a means of gaining votes in the Democratic primary so you pretty much expect him to bust a blood vessel any time someone says it is a bad idea … even if in the next breath said someone basically promotes a similar idea.

QC immigration march canceled; deportation fears

An immigration rights march scheduled for Tuesday has been canceled because some people were afraid of getting deported. The decision differs greatly from last May, when more than 3,000 Hispanic immigrants and their supporters marched from Rock Island to LeClaire Park in Davenport for the ‘Day of Unity.’ They and thousands more across the country protested against proposals to make illegally entering the United States a felony. Federal agents have cracked down more and more on illegal immigrants in the past several months.

Cow Farts And Global Warming Again

Yes my friends we are back to the “cow farts cause global warming” mantra again. And this time the EU is being asked to take action:

BARMY Euro MPs are demanding new laws to stop cows and sheep PARPING.

Their call came after the UN said livestock emissions were a bigger threat to the planet than transport.

The MEPs have asked the European Commission to “look again at the livestock question in direct connection with global warming”.

The official EU declaration demands changes to animals’ diets, to capture gas emissions and recycle manure.

Expect renewed calls by the militant vegetarians (who are so brave they prey on harmless vegetables unable to defend themselves) to curb the consumption of meat by humans since that is why there are so many cows.

As for me I say pass the steak and skin the radical vegans for leather.

AZ: 26 illegal aliens found in Glendale home

A police officer responding to a call of a suspected ‘chop shop’ instead uncovered a drop house with 26 illegal aliens. At approximately 2:30 p.m. April 19, a call came in reporting an SUV chop in the backyard of a home at the corner of 65th Drive and Sweetwater Avenue. When the officer arrived he peaked in the backyard and there were no cars, so he knocked on the front door. He began questioning the people who answered, but did not want to talk with him and shut the door, police spokesperson Matt Barnett said.

Expert offers teachers free weapons training

‘Guns cause shootings like cameras cause pornography’
The mad homicidal rampages in American schools will halt when attackers find out that faculty and students sometimes are armed and trained to use those weapons effectively, so an expert in the defensive use of guns is offering free training to educators.

“In our country, every time a misguided individual on psychiatric drugs goes on a killing spree, anti-self defense legislators watch the polls and exploit the dead victims in order to fool the public into accepting more gun control,” said Ignatius Piazza, founder of Front Sight Firearms Training Institute.

“It is time our country finds some resolve and the will to tackle the real problem – which is rooting out the actual influences in the lives of our youth that predispose them to commit atrocities such as those we saw at Virginia Tech,” he said.

“The problem is not guns. Guns don’t cause these incidents to occur any more than cameras cause child pornography or automobiles cause traffic fatalities,” he said. “Society is safer when we train and arm our law abiding citizens.”

His feelings are so strong on the subject he’s launched a two-part campaign: to honor the heroes of the Virginia Tech massacre and to make sure that defensive firearms training is available to those who will be in a position to halt the next one. Cho Seung-Hui

Putin Continues To Act Suspiciously

Russian President Vladimir Putin continues to act wonky about the United States developing a “missile shield” to intercept attacks from foreign countries.

MOSCOW (Reuters) - President Vladimir Putin on Friday renewed criticism of U.S. plans to deploy a missile shield in Eastern Europe, saying Russia would take “appropriate measures” to counter the system.

So now one has to ask how you “counter” a missile shield. And I think the answer is obvious; you develop offensive weapons to neutralize it.

I understand that Mr. Putin still has a bit of an inferiority complex about his nation’s role in the world but come on. You know the man is out of it when he makes comments like this

“We do not understand … what is happening in Europe now that requires such aggressive actions,” Putin said. “We see no arguments for deploying the missile shield in Europe.”

Gee, how about rogue states like Iran and North Korea getting nuclear weapons and plopping them on top of a long range missile? Come on. Apparently even I am smarter than the illustrious leader of Russia since he didn’t even see that obvious answer.

I suspect his motives are much more sinister than feigning ignorance.
