CAWG Pig Book Realeased March 7th
J.J. Jackson* | March 6, 2007
Just a reminder, CAGW will release the
2007 Pig Book tomorrow, March 7!
In less than 24 hours, at 11:00 a.m. EST, Citizens Against Government Waste President Tom Schatz will release the 2007 Congressional Pig Book at a Washington press conference alongside our special guests - Senators Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) and John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Representative Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.).
With the threat of a terrorist attack still looming over our country and young Americans putting their lives on the line every day in Iraq and Afghanistan, CAGW’s “little pink book” will expose how Congress continues to waste vital Defense and Homeland Security dollars on parochial and non-essential projects. The 2007 Congressional Pig Book profiles such outrageous pork-barrel spending in the Defense and Homeland Security Budgets as $5,500,000 for the Ernest Gallo Clinic and Research Center; $4,000,000 for the Northern Line Extension, an Alaskan railway that will link the village of North Pole (pop. 1,778) to the village of Delta Junction (pop. 840); and $1,650,000 to improve the shelf life of vegetables.
As always, we will name the names of those responsible for this waste!
Citizens Against Government Waste is the nation’s largest taxpayer watchdog group with over one million members and supporters nationwide.
